Big JD fan but a farm that can not project to add one MLB SP pitcher on at least a semiconsistent basis is not doing what it needs to do. A glut of MIFs and now lower level CFs but pitching still reigns supreme in my book.

Also been reading and fact that Bush does not have multiple pitches beyond FB and slider does not project well as a starter.

Glad we won't offer if it is true. He will not get anywhere $17m in FA.

No but he will get a 2-3 year offer. I guess too risky.

We are really under the 8 ball re starting pitching and we really don't have a closer either. I guess people like this Choplick who is being showcased in AZ league. Kela has a closer mentality but sure has not looked ready yet.

LeClerc has been wild but can get strikeouts. Need more guys who can get a strikeout.

Pitching is getting way to expensive. Cashner was ok but not worth a multi year contract.imo.

Am I an idiot, or is 6/140 kinda low for a Darvish estimate? I think I bring him back for that.

And the Rangers may be one of the teams to offer him that 2/3 years. Don't rule this out.

First, I certainly don't think you're an idiot. Wanted to address this first. ha ha

But seriously, isn't it a note that you even consider offering a guy approximately $23 mil per, as "perhaps too low?" That's probably pretty close to what he'll get though, and I honestly don't know if I want him back for this amount of money, or this length of time.

I guess that's what I mean... the $23m/year doesn't give pause, but the 6 years probably does.

I would go after Darvish for the amount reported because when we are ready to compete for the division we are going to need a pitcher or two like him. And we probably have a much better chance of convincing him to sign here than any other pitcher of his caliber. It also may increase our odds of landing Otani.
