It is so hard to trade players like AD or Kawhi. It is basically impossible to get commensurate value in return because one superstar is better than 3 all-stars who are better than 8 above average players.

The 2 most recent ones that come to mind for me are when the Lakers traded Shaq to Miami and when Orlando traded Dwight to the Lakers. In each case, it was a player who demanded a trade, was about to be a free agent and the team was trying to make sure they got something for him rather than losing him for nothing.

It really put him in a bit of a no win situation too, imo. If he says he's staying, then leaves, he's a liar. If he says he's leaving, he gets booed by OKC fans for the rest of the season, not to mention the upset it could cause with the team.

Maybe a blanket..."I'm just trying to get through this season, help this team win as much as possible and I'll deal with the off-season in the off-season"?
