Fox though...I just love that kid.

And, I officially admit that I was wrong about Skal.

Amazing how guys like he and Kuzma's skill translate better to the pro game than they did in college.

Ps. No need to be glum. If you guys can get Giles right in the next couple of years, you will have a wealth of length, youth and shooting with he and Skal.

Also why LeBron should be MVP every year.

I am kidding, kind of.

If the award is simply, the best player in the game, then he absolutely should win it every year and should probably be on a 10 year streak of consecutive MVP's.

Getting close to time for me to climb up on my annual "they need 2 awards, most valuable and most outstanding" soapbox. lol

STILL no sale...:heh:

Dubs didn't need him, Mavs didn't need him, Spuds didn't need him...

WE don't need him...

umm, just sayin'...:D

I understand and respect your position on Lebron, I just look at it a little different I guess. If a guy can help the team win and win a lot, then I want him on the team (as long as we're not giving up too much of the young core).

It's no secret that I wasn't a big Kobe fan. But as long as he wore the Lakers uniform, I was pulling for him.

oh, and there's the factor of DESPISE i just might have for him...

but it's only slight...

Your Clippers look good @Mecca
I hate to jinx it.

Blake has been amazing.

My biggest knock on him was his lack of defensive effort and average rebounding.

Dude has been swatting shots and putting in effort on both ends of the court.

I just hope his body holds up.

Ps. You and I are among the few that thought they could be a playoff team.

It's hella early.

But, they have enough to be competitive.

He had an off night shooting, but made another 3 and showed off that great speed.

I think Skal was one of the top prospects coming out of high school like Giles, but his year at Kentucky was pretty disappointing. Helped the Kings have a chance to get him so late in the 1st round, I thought he would be a lottery pick still. Skal's got potential to be an all star in the future when getting 30+ minutes if he's aggressive enough. Giles is very talented as well, but those serious knee injuries are rough. IF he can return from that and get close to reaching his potential it'll be a win for the Kings, but that's a big if.

There's a lot of potential on the Kings, but after all the years of crap it's hard to not get glum and/or worried that the potential won't pan out.

Unorthodox shooting mechanics that are unlikely to translate well to the NBA, lack of elite athleticism. He has the tools to be a decent NBA player, maybe even making a couple All-Star games here and there. But I don't think he'll be a bona fide star at any point in his career.

I could be wrong.
I think you could be right if he doesn't work on his game. But, a player his age could change how he shoots & really develop a nice shot. He doesn't have to become Steph, but should develop a jumper/go-to move to keep defenses honest.

As a PG he doesn't have to have elite athleticism to be great IMO. He will need to bulk up his body a little bit & will need to work on his ball handling skills. He will also need to learn the balance between passing & shooting & understand in games when either are needed more than the other.

Did you consider _ason Kidd, no J, a Star?

I did.

Lonzo is nowhere near that level defensively.

But, everything else is comparable to early years Kidd.

Jason's first year stats:

11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.7 assists

Lonzo stats:

11.5 points, 9.0 rebounds 9.0 assits
Girl, great minds think alike!

Kidd was one of the best point guards in the league for a while. Agreed on the defense, but Lonzo hasn't been bad defensively, that I've noticed.

Even as good as Kidd was, he never ended up leading his team to a championship (unless you count 2010-2011 but he was clearly past his prime at that point.) Regardless, if Lonzo turns into Kidd, I'm sure the Lakers would be very happy.

On the flip side, Lonzo could also end up being Ricky Rubio with rebounding skills for all we know. Lonzo turning into the next Jason Kidd is not the predestined conclusion to his development.

He's got plenty of time and you're right about the athleticism of a PG. I'm just not wagering any money on it.
