Personally I didn't see anything wrong with what Kerr did as I was watching the game. I loved it in fact. The team has been lacking energy and enthusiasm and this was a way to get them more engaged. I saw a much more involved Andre Iguodala last night. Not sure if it had anything to do with Kerr giving the players much more space, but it helped.

Also they said Kerr let the guys run practice and the players also held the film session as well. So they were all fully invested in the game and it wasn't a gimmick as far as just telling the guys before the game, "hey, you guys wanna coach too?"

But after looking at it from a step back, I can see how it would be disrespectful. Suns are a bad team so I get how they would feel. Perhaps they should have done this against a better opponent. Possibly Portland would have worked better.

Yeah, at first it seems kind of cool. Especially the letting them run practice/film sessions part. Maintaining that focus/edge can be one of the more challenging things for a team in the Warriors position.

But, as you said, if you're actually going to let them coach the game...do it against a team that can actually fight back.

They don't have the roster to do something about it.

It's like when Alabama blew the doors off of my Trojans leaving their starters in for most of the game. I had no issue with that game because USC (theoretically) had the athletes to do something about it. But, Alabama doing the same thing to say...Coastal Carolina...that's not a fair fight.

The Suns simply don't have the roster to do much about the Warriors laying a beatdown on them. I just don't see the point of rubbing it in.

Again, I didn't see it as rubbing it in. There's no wrong/right to this scenario. Kerr saw it as an opportunity to present a different situation for the team. When your team is going for its 4th straight Finals, you probably start running into boredom and complacency. It seemed to have a positive effect.

And, as I said, I don't think that was the intent. But I do see how it could be taken that way and I think there's a big difference between doing it against a team that just doesn't have the guys to really fight back and one that does.

I'm not suggesting doing it against a team like the Spurs, Rockets or Celtics. But as other have mentioned, how about Portland? Or even the Lakers for that matter? At least then those players might have to do some real coaching.

You're probably right. But baby steps I guess.

Yep this was exactly how I took it. You're a shit team....so bad that I'll give all my coaches the night off. Disrespectful.

Wait so just curious, was it a shitty move all around or was it just shitty considering the opponent?

Both but more so due to the opponent. It was a win-win situation because no way would they ever lose to the Suns at home with their best player out. If Kerr was a real man, he would pull that stunt tomorrow night or heck even next saturday when OKC comes to the Bay

LOL.

Pop has employed this numerous times. You can youtube all the clips of Tony Parker or Manu leading the huddle and drawing up plays. They might not have done it for the whole game, but he'll let them do it.

I agree they could have chosen a better opponent, but thinking this isn't good for team morale is a bit short sighted.
