Klay's probably one of the most low maintenance players in the history of the NBA. He'll still get paid even if he took a little less. The biggest factor is that he just recently re-upped his Anta shoe deal for another 80M. That's not insignificant when you think about how much he would be happy with.
It's not insignificant.

I don't claim to know the inner workings of Klay's mind or what his priorities are.

But, If he doesn't get the contract, sounds like it would be a issue.

If I'm trying to win another championship I'm not waiting until May or June to think about getting better.

And you are correct.

But...

How do they do that if nobody will trade with them, none of the buyout guys want to play 3 mins a game and they have no cap?

The Cavs pulled off a miracle.

But, it took a pick.

Most teams are unwilling to surrender that, especially a Team that needs to fill the bottom of their roster with minimum deals.

Wow..really?

I would rather lose Draymond.

Could be my bias because he irks the Shit out of me.

Could be viewed cause he punks the Shit out of the Clippers.

I just think if Bell develops, he would be the odd man out by cause he's the last up for an extension.

They will pay Klay, see if they are still top dog, if not.....

Bye, Bye Asshole...

Without Draymond this team has no dog left. Steph's not going to rile up the troops. Neither will KD. Definitely not Klay.

Draymond does all the dirty work for the team. He gets all the hustle plays. He rebounds, he defends and he's the second best playmaker on the team behind Steph. He allows the Warriors to go small. He allows them to be an elite defensive team. He allows them to be a free-flowing offense. He's so vital to what the Warriors do.

Draymond has kind of been the blue-print for what teams are now looking for at the 4 position. Take away his attitude and just look at his attributes as a whole. If you upped his 3Pt percentage slightly, he's the IDEAL power forward in today's NBA game.

Agreed. No one really knows. But based off of everything he's said and done in his career I would think he'd be open to taking slightly less. Of course not a big number, but if he shaved maybe 2M a year off his max, that'd be reasonable. I'm not thinking he'll take close to 5 or anything like that.

Yea, you're biased for sure. Dray isn't getting traded unless he's reduced to one leg & one arm.

Well GS is in a different space than the Cavs are/were, clearly. This team didn't necessarily need a trade to fill the gap on the bench. Like @citysush mentioned, bench production is mostly the problem. If they can find the right guy who can give them the scoring they need for that second unit, they go after him & problem solved.

Also, who wouldn't want to join the best team in the league that's also poised to make another Finals run this season? We don't even know for sure if they reached out to Joe Johnson. What we do know is that there isn't a disgruntled player on that team - so kinda sounds like playing with them would be enjoyable AND they also happen to be winning.

That's pretty much what he's already said. He would give about a 4M discount - but not too much because he's not making money like KD.

One of them has to go if the gap between talent keeps shrinking.

You think the Owner will pay a dollar for dollar punitive tax for a Team that is not a shoe in to win the title?

I don't.

Not when we are talking 75-100 mil in taxes.

That's one of the few things Wiggy was right about....

Due to that 12-5 record......the Lakers are just 6 ganes out of the 8th seed.

Actually, yes I do think the owners will pay the luxury tax if it will give them the chance to compete on that level. Reason is because they know what if feels like to win. But, I understand it would be hard to see the potential of gambling if they hadn't already won once or twice.

Klay already said he would consider taking less money if it meant keeping the team together. I think Dray would also consider it because of they chemistry this team has. But to think they would just trade Dray, I would bet against that & I don't typically bet on things like this.
I have never seen Klay say anything other than " I'm not sacrificing Shit"....lol

That was about shots.

But, allow me my fantasy of believing that will cross over into PAY.

He refused to leave it before and they overpaid Iggy.

So, I don't see it when he will still be very much in his prime.

It's a longshot but 6 games out with 27 games left.

Maybe Papa Smurf can lead them to the playoffs then get humiliated by the W’s. Then in 4 months he will be talking about how the Lakers really hurt his feelings by not resigning him. But seriously, I really do feel bad for the guy

Not just because they have an uphill battle.

But, because of the Teams they have to pass.

I think Utah and Pelicans will continue to win.

So, it's almost impossible.

It is in the best interest of the Clippers to miss.

I'd be happy with a .500 team and a lottery pick, maybe 2 if the Pistons don't make it.

Oh Shit...

You guys are right.

He totally said he'd take a pay cut.

What a asshole....lol

Klay Thompson says he's open to taking a discount to stay with Warriors in two years
