Personally, if they maintain this to the all star break. I'll start to buy in to their improved defense. Until then, I think they will eventually revert back to their mean.

Maybe not as bad as before because CP3 won't allow them to ignore defense altogether, but I think there will be a fairly significant drop.

It's not just Paul. Why you mopes don't read an actual article by a professional sports analyst is beyond me LOL

Because Lebron is paid to take and make those kinds of shots. Lonzo isn't. Lonzo, at least right now, is paid to get the ball to the guy who takes and makes those shots.

Also, it doesn't mean that Lebron should always take that shot and never pass it. Kobe and MJ also passed once in a while in those situations. They just did a better job of knowing when it should be them shooting and when they should pass.

Lonzo had 3 defenders collapse on him leaving a good 3 point shooter all alone. I think almost every time MJ passes to Kerr or Kobe to Horry when that happens.

I wouldn't go that far. 10 years is a stretch and so many different things that we can't see now can happen 3-5 years from now.

If someone would have told any of us in 2009 or 2010 that the Warriors would be relevant and winning titles by 2015, we would have all laughed at that person.

I honestly don't think it is.

Do you think Russell and Okafor will be the best players on a good team? Will a legit star sign a FA deal to play with them? Extremely unlikely on both counts.

I have not seen anything from either player that makes me think they are any more than a stat stuffer on a bad team. They are role players on a good one. They are young, sure, but the glaring weaknesses are going to be hard to fix.

My bet is that they win between 25-40 games annually with the Russell/ Okafor nucleus until they have to tear it down and rebuild again.

So yeah, 10 years.

Ball, James, and MJ in the same sentence? This is hilarious.

I just don't think Marks is looking as Russell and Okafor as some 1-2 punch that he expect to change the franchise. He's making little moves to improve the team. I doubt he ride out this nucleus for more than 2 full years

When you're lacking lottery picks for multiple years in a row, you do what you can to collect talent. Russell and Okafor have talent whether it leads to either making an all star team or them both ending up as role players. And if neither can live up to their pre draft potential and still think they deserve big contracts the Nets can let them go. It's almost like a no lose situation for them getting 2 recent top 3 picks who for one reason or another didn't fit into the plans of their former team.

This. And if they signed a superstar in the next 1-2 seasons to be the go to guy, they aren't bad 2nd and 3rd options. Especially, in the EC.

Russell could be a solid #2 option I think....he's in his 3rd season and has shown some progress......if he made a jump in his 4th season......he could be a legit player next to a superstar.

Yep exactly which is why I can't agree with the assumption that they won't be relevant for another 10 years. They finally get their own first round picks back starting in 2019. That will really help

I don't think they have the money to get a superstar in the next years. I would have agreed with Tlance if he said 5 years. 10 years IMO is really far out to predict anything in professional sports. At best, Brooklyn probably make a few playoffs appearance as a lower seed in the next 5 years

Hell, he's averaging 21ppg, 6apg, and 5rpg. He just needed a change of scenery and I'm glad he's doing well....he just needs to mature.

Teams around in 1-2 years all the time.....10 years is way too long. I could see the next 2-3 years if they can't land a superstar via FA or trade, but they are playing better than most thought and the youngsters can always improve enough to surpass expectations.

I like Okafor....
