He'd be a nice 6th man along with Lou Williams. Or he could start until Ingram is ready. Let Ingram come off the bench his rook season like Kobe did.

Once the big names go off the board, we will see there are plenty of solid role players that can help a team.

Williams, Courtney Lee, Nene, Afflao, Gerald Henderson, Dudley, Turner, Terrance Jones , Cole Aldrich, Dwight Powell etc.

Just don't fall into the trap of overpaying Eric Gordon, Kevin Martin, Austin Rivers.

If we get Whiteside that's all we really need to worry about, just piece together a bench with 2nd tier guys like Williams or Gerald Henderson plus a few other guys. The kids can play 35-36mpg, they are young and will gain valuable experience. We can add better bench players and depth in a few seasons when we start to get ready to make a serious push for the playoffs. But, a young team with Whiteside and Williams or Henderson off the bench could win 37-38 games imo.

I'd bring in Louis Admundson on a veteran minimum deal, he played well last season for the Knicks and can play 10-12mpg to rest Randle.

Durant to the Clips

They would have make some trades and their bench wouldnt be as strong. I guess that applies to almost every team in the running but the Thunder is probably his best bet now honestly.

These are the salaries of Los Angeles Lakers players this season

I didn't realize we had close to 70 million available. $55-57 million if Clarkson gets around 13-15 million per season.

That's a lot.

Rookie contracts are wonders and it helps Kobe is off the books. That is 25 mil right there. Realistically if you sign Clarkson you could get two max guys (depending on what their max is) and still sign some bench guys.

I seriously doubt we get 2 max guys. We don't have a need for them, we have 4 starters as is. We just need a C and some bench players from the way management is talking about building around our core and pursuing Whiteside aggressively.

You are correct.

Everyone besides the Celtics would have to lose a valuable player or their entire bench.

Oh okay.

I like the possible lineup of:

G-Russell
G-Clarkson
F-Ingram
F-Randle
C-Whiteside

That's a nice young starting 5.
I bet you that starting 5 would win about 27 games next year.

I agree with this. At best maybe around 33
I kinda roughly based it on the Twolves winning 29 last year- in the West with really really good young talent. I dont think the Lakers are quite on the Twolves level young talent wise- so thats why i said just a couple less.

Well he will have to take less most likely, not much and the depth of the Warriors will go from the strongest to little help but if they can get KD it really doesnt matter.

I like Whiteside, but I worry a bit, about his pick and roll defense. Other than that, I definitely can't blame Mitch and co. for tossing their hat into the Whiteside sweepstakes

He's a freak of nature.
Whoever gets him will hit a home run assuming he stays focused.

Agreed but you still have livingston, iguodala off the bench with barbosa assuming we bring him back for the minimum. Also we just drafted Mccaw who I really like and Damian jones might be a nice center in this league way better hands than ezeli

Most definitely, and he has alot of potential. I don't believe that we are in the lead to get him(I'd give that to Miami), but I always thought that he was at the least, more attainable than Lebron/KD. One thing I am glad about is that we have already been knocked out of the Lebron/KD scenario. If we would of gotten meetings with either of those guys, we would of waited, and let other FA's go by.

In the end, even if the Lakers strike out on big names, I won't be disappointed because I'm fairly sure that outside of key contributors like a Harrison Barnes(his price may have gone down after those final games), we'll do the smart thing and save our cap space like years before
