Rumor has it the Orioles (Rotoworld) won't be in the market for a top end pitcher. I ask why not? You saved a butt load ($15M) on Trumbo. Should be enough money left over to bring in a quality starter imo. I'm not sure what the O's are thinking but this is the year they must go for it.

Thought not reality: Heard some talk on bringing Vance back. I'm for it because he would be cheaper and has some starting experience at Pittsburgh. Now the question would be if the Os are bringing him back to start....just some thought on my part.

I would take Vance back over Miley at this point. The 4-5 spot is a huge issue especially if one of the other 3 struggle.

What top end pitcher is even out there at this point? This was a bad year for teams that needed starting pitching in free agency. I hope that they save that money to try to re-sign Tillman.

Not looking forward to seeing the back end of our starters pitch, whether that is Ubaldo Miley or if we re-sign Worley. Hope that McDowell can work miracles.

DAN!!!........IN THE NAME OF GOOD SENSE, bring back Jason Hammels!!!:dhd:

If Hammel could be signed at a fair price, he should be a better choice than Miley... if the recent trend in HR/9 doesn't continue into 2017. (Also note the fact that Hammel has posted three consecutive years of below-career-average BABIP-- when this luck runs out, some regression should be expected. That being said, the Steamer projection of 4.35 ERA / 4.31 FIP / 1.7 fWAR would be enough if you're looking at a #4/5 spot.)

Miley isn't bad except for the HR ball and the offense didn't produce runs for him. In addition with Hammel, he knows the system and Buck.

for all the want to sign another pitcher . well we already have 5 tilly, gausman and bundy is the top 3 waldo and miley are the weak ones . look our outfield D was terrible and matt was terrible at framing pitches and calling games . when I hear that wright is working on his mental game excites me he has the arm like arrieta and like jake he can get lost in a game . Wilson I would love to see him get a true shot . plus we have some pretty good starters in the minors in the pipe line . this team doesn't need to add but they do need to head north with the best 25 not keeping people because we can . trey is a keeper if nothing more than a good ph off the bench for the D replacement late in the game . when brady is working with trey you will find out later they are working on playing the outfield . it want shock me if trey hits he could force his way in the line up and others get extra time off to work or to heel . lets go o's

Nevermind....

The Royals have reached agreement with free agent righty Jason Hammel on a two-year deal with a mutual option for a third year, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. Hammel will receive $16MM guaranteed, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports tweets. The deal is pending a physical. Hammel is an ACES client.

The Orioles have acquired right-hander Gabriel Ynoa from the Mets in exchange for cash and designated catcher Francisco Pena for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, per a team announcement.

This was the kind of acquisition I'd been expecting. Minor league guy with some major league experience. I had no illusions about us acquiring a guy who was gonna bump either Miley or UJ out of the starting rotation, unless it was some unforeseen big trade.

I pencil it in as a Despaigne-type signing. For the most part, we won't notice this pitcher this year. And he's 23 with 7 years of MiLB experience. WTF?

You were saying Ted???
this is the same thing britton had done not worried . so bundy and gausman is going to have break out years . it would make wright or Wilson starters for a few games . our outfield just sucked last year and a lot of our pitchers era took a hit due to this but hopefully things will change in 17 . plus matt being gone just made all our pitchers better who ever gets matt better teach him how to frame pitches .

So essentially, we now have 6 outfielders (not including Trumbo) fighting for the 2 corner outfield slots. Have a feeling that with that big glut that Mancini will probably be sent back down to Norfolk since he'd at least get to play everyday there.

The Orioles have acquired lefty Richard Bleier from the Yankees, per a club announcement, with cash or a player to be named later heading back in return. Baltimore designated first baseman/outfielder Christian Walker for assignment to create roster space.
