Also Johnny Cueto and Santiago Casilla are on the Dominican Republic WBC roster.

This is interesting too. Baseball is going to experiment with starting the 11th inning with a runner on second base. They're going to test it in the WBC, and then in the lowest level of the minor leagues.

We all this this doesn't benefit the Giants!

HORRIBLE idea.

And it just guarantees that the Giants would not get a single hit in extras ever again.

So Mike Krukow is only going to broadcast home games and NL West road games from now on. I'm assuming it's because of his health. Javier Lopez and Jeremy Affeldt will fill in on his behalf.

While it's obviously sad to hear and I wish Kruk well, it will be nice to get some new blood in there.

Also, we've said on multiple occasions that both JA and Javy were bound for the media when they eventually hung it up.

JA did a small handful of games last year (I think fewer than 5). He was definitely very green. But he certainly has the personality to do it, eventually.

As for getting fresh blood, it is funny that the "kid" on the broadcast team has been around for approx 20 years.

The Dodgers just signed Franklin Gutierrez today. Big whoop you say? Well, apparently, the Giants were in the mix to sign him as well. Great. The front office just cannot get enough mediocrity for spring. Can't they just stop and figure out what they've already got?

Gutierrez was awesome against lefties last year (and throughout his career) and I'm sure they viewed him as a upgrade option over Gorkys.

My concern is more to do with the assumption that they are still looking. The list of remaining free agent outfielders:
Michael Bourn
Marlon Byrd
Coco Crisp
Jeff Francoeur
Sam Fuld
Angel Pagan
Ryan Raburn
Nolan Reimold

Maybe it's more of a case that they liked him early on but thought he might sign for more money and were content to wait for his price to drop. I'm sure they're always looking to upgrade if the price is right. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they sign Raburn to a MiLB deal.

He definitely handled lefties well last year but was awful against righties. However, he seems to be one of those every other good year type players. Maybe worth it but I'd still rather go forward with the guys we already have.

He looks ok. He seems to be a solid 6th inning guy. Pretty much averages an inning an outing and only let 5 of 17 inherited runners score last year. He also had a 3.5 ERA and 1.5 WHIP.

Good camp competition. If he makes it, awesome. If not, good depth.
