Plus it wasn't just Crowder. (I remember this trade -- thought Crowder was a throw-in / spare change)

The Celtics will send Rondo and forward Dwight Powell to Dallas for Jameer Nelson, Jae Crowder, Brandan Wright, two draft picks and a $12.9 million trade exception.

The trades Danny made during that period were just friggin amazing. That Suns trade looks even better. And I have not even started discussing the Nets Trade

well one of the reasons i went back to 2003 is because guys that have not yet even hit their primes cant really be expected to do a whole lot.

Anthony Davis was 19 years old when he was drafted- same with Giannis---when Did LBJ and MJ win their first titles? like 26-27?- Durant hasnt even won one yet.

only 1 team wins the Finals every year.

my point was- that you can find a franchise player in the top 5 at a pretty high rate. Going back to 2003 there were 51 all stars drafted. 20 of them in the top 5, out of those 20 many of them are "centerpiece" type guys

out of ALL the players taken outside of the lotto since 2003 to 2014--- 495 players (15-60= 45 players for 11 years) and only about 6 of them are HIGH IMPACT guys-- and thats if you consider Butler and Isiah Thomas who have not yet won anything.

since 2003 those are your "great" players taken outside the lotto- Marc Gasol, Kawhi Lenoard, Giannis, Draymond, Butler, and Isiah Thomas.---- in 11 years you have 5, maybe 6 guys who are true difference makers coming from 450 players taken from 15-60 (and Giannis and Lenoard were #15).

Inside the lotot- 55 picks from 2003 to 2014- there were 20 all stars.....if you are picking in the top 5 you get an all star about 36% of the time. Out of those 20 guys at least 12 of them are high impact centerpiece guys.

i mean- this isnt surprising-- in 11 years from picks 15-60 (450 players) you had 5, maybe 6 guys that are GREAT players- Gasol, Giannis, Draymond, Butler, Thomas, Kawhi.

In 11 years, from picks 1-5 (55 players) you have 20 all stars, and about 15 centerpiece guys.

my point is and always has been- its damn near IMPOSSIBLE to find a high impact guy outside the lotto. maybe 6 total in 11 years- and out of those 6- you have guys like Isiah Thomas and Butler and Giannis who have not done anything yet.

My point is, a "franchise" player , playing for a shitty franchise isn't winning anything.

FA/Trades have always been the key to building championship teams.

Of course having some youth and high draft picks help, but its not that easy to consolidate all of that.

As far as the Heat goes, White>>>Williams.
That's why they signed him to a 2 year deal.

without a franchise player you have ZERO chance though. By FAR the easiest way to get one is through the draft in todays CBA environment. Relying on free agency- especially with the new designated player exception - will prove useless.

Better to get him healthy now.

Plus, Korver has been playing well.

So, he can help compensate for the points you'll be missing.

Rebounding might be a problem though.

Yes, they are disgusting.

The sheer number of incidents should be reason enough to crush them.

That, and from the look of it, what was going on at Baylor was systemic and it appears that a lot more people were involved in covering it up.

You think if New Orleans doesn't get their act straight that Anthony Davis is staying with them just because of the new CBA? Please. Players will still leave

Please don't take this as me trolling you. Because, that's not my intention.

But, why do I need to make a argument to justify watching the NBA?

I'm really confused about the rationale of the posters who come to the NBA threads to say " I don't like watching the NBA " for blah, blah reasons.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

But, don't try to rain on the parade of those of us who do still enjoy it.

* gets off soapbox *

But, to answer your question, the Dreams Houston Rockets are probably the only Team to fit that narrative.

I'll never understand the need of some posters to go to a board for a league they don't watch just to tell everybody they don't watch. Are those of us who do supposed to care or something? I must have missed that memo.

Probably, but you need to pretty much suck to be in that position.

Therefore, those types of teams that don't suck need to find other ways.

Having the top players now or recently , means you prob have little to no assets to fall back on for quite some time.

Heat had to give up most everything to give the Big 3 the sign and trades, and Cavs have dumped pretty much every asset they are allowed.

he is on a 5 year contract...lol.....you gonna wait around 5 years for a guy that has a TON of options and may just choose to take the HUGE FINANCIAL ADVANTAGE of staying at home.

Its possible 1 or 2 of the highest level guys move--- of course there will still be guys that leave--- but it will happen even LESS frequently then it has- which is already pretty much never.

You do realize my comment had absolutely nothing to do with Miami right?

You're acting like basically every top player is all of sudden going to stay with their current team for the rest of their career. That is just not happening

I think Whiteside will leave the Heat for the Cavs.
