wrong. it has zero to do with expectations and everything t odo with how the contract is structured.

Steve Hutchinson was the first poison pill contract htat i can remember and he was an All Pro at the time. It has ZERO to do with performance.

Ok

@WiggyRuss ...

When LeBron doesn't win the MVP award this year will you write a letter of protest to the league?
depends on who wins it. If Harden does- thats cool....i mean shit--- a ton of guys have legit arguments....

id have LEBron at #2 right now behind Harden to be honest.

Rumor is that if the Heat goes after Ibaka that Tyler would be going to Magic.
I love Tyler, but the Heat has a log jam in that position.
Possibly Riley would opt to keep the less expensive options to upgrade at other positions.

Excluding and Cavs or Warrior player(s), name your top 10 players who were drafted top 5, the last 5+ years and tell us who is winning a title anytime soon.

On the other hand, Leonard was picked 15th, and prob has the best chance because of the structure, roster, depth of his team.

That would be an extremely stupid move especially considering Ibaka is really overrated and is also a free agent.

Also hard to see the Heat trading Tyler. He has been their best young player. I would trade Richardson before I trade Tyler.

No doubt Harden's having a damn good year but nobody thought Westbrook would be averaging a trip-dub heading into the A.S. break. I think if he keeps those #'s up for the season he should win the MVP. And I'm not taking anything away from LeBron but he's doing what he's always done, fill up the stat sheet just about every night. I just think what RW & JH are doing this year is a bit more impressive than what LeBron has always done.

I just don't see the point of a team like Miami who his rebuilding to trade for a guy like Ibaka. It makes much more sense for a team like Toronto to do it since they think this may be their last year to make the finals with Lowry being a FA

Why exclude players on the Cavs and Warriors? Those are pretty much the two teams with any serious chance of winning a title this year. The Cavs happen to have 4 Top 5 picks in their starting lineup and the Warriors have 1 Top 5 pick and 5 Top 11 picks in their list of 6 best players. Keep touting Kawhi Leonard. He landed with one of the best organizations in NBA history and is a major outlier when it comes to star players in the NBA.

Not really sure what point you are trying to make, in general.

At this point, he really doesn't have one. He's just shotgunning a bunch of bullshit hoping to save yet another point where he's been proven wrong. In other words...Wiggy gonna Wiggy.

Are any of these teams even close to the Giants running the table as a wild card and knocking off the 18-0 Patriots? As Larry asked when was the last time the NBA had a real deep run from a low seed? Dallas is your best argument but they were a three seed and title contenders in the past, not a total out of nowhere story. Give me an argument where Golden State, Cleveland or maybe San Antonio does not win the whole thing.

Please don't take this as me trolling you. Because, that's not my intention.

But, why do I need to make a argument to justify watching the NBA?

I'm really confused about the rationale of the posters who come to the NBA threads to say " I don't like watching the NBA " for blah, blah reasons.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

But, don't try to rain on the parade of those of us who do still enjoy it.

* gets off soapbox *

But, to answer your question, the Dreams Houston Rockets are probably the only Team to fit that narrative.

well one of the reasons i went back to 2003 is because guys that have not yet even hit their primes cant really be expected to do a whole lot.

Anthony Davis was 19 years old when he was drafted- same with Giannis---when Did LBJ and MJ win their first titles? like 26-27?- Durant hasnt even won one yet.

only 1 team wins the Finals every year.

my point was- that you can find a franchise player in the top 5 at a pretty high rate. Going back to 2003 there were 51 all stars drafted. 20 of them in the top 5, out of those 20 many of them are "centerpiece" type guys

out of ALL the players taken outside of the lotto since 2003 to 2014--- 495 players (15-60= 45 players for 11 years) and only about 6 of them are HIGH IMPACT guys-- and thats if you consider Butler and Isiah Thomas who have not yet won anything.

since 2003 those are your "great" players taken outside the lotto- Marc Gasol, Kawhi Lenoard, Giannis, Draymond, Butler, and Isiah Thomas.---- in 11 years you have 5, maybe 6 guys who are true difference makers coming from 450 players taken from 15-60 (and Giannis and Lenoard were #15).

Inside the lotot- 55 picks from 2003 to 2014- there were 20 all stars.....if you are picking in the top 5 you get an all star about 36% of the time. Out of those 20 guys at least 12 of them are high impact centerpiece guys.

i mean- this isnt surprising-- in 11 years from picks 15-60 (450 players) you had 5, maybe 6 guys that are GREAT players- Gasol, Giannis, Draymond, Butler, Thomas, Kawhi.

In 11 years, from picks 1-5 (55 players) you have 20 all stars, and about 15 centerpiece guys.

my point is and always has been- its damn near IMPOSSIBLE to find a high impact guy outside the lotto. maybe 6 total in 11 years- and out of those 6- you have guys like Isiah Thomas and Butler and Giannis who have not done anything yet.

I'd rather have Tyler also, but we can't keep all of our guards.
On top of that, James Johnson and Winslow sometimes handle the ball.

@LogicMan let's get out of here 3-1.

Yeah nice win for sure Vyle. The bench is really stepping up with all our injuries in play. Smart is starting to play at another level..............

Well Waiters is likely leaving. Trading Tyler now would be pretty stupid. We're not keeping both James and Waiters. Heck we may lose both with the years they're having. If they keep this up, teams are going to overpay for them big time in the summer. My guess is they opt to keep Johnson for obvious reasons. If I had to trade a guard, it would no question be Richardson.

Ha!! The Lakers even tank better than the Heat.

Lakers > Heat. :yes:
if the Lakers keep their pick this year (and even if they dont) id MUCH rather have their roster than the Heat's thats for sure.

especially considering the Heat owe 2 first rounders to the Suns that are barely protected.
