You know, Zidlicky is probably the guy I'd take the most (outside of Yandle) in regard to the Dmen moved so far. And he was probably the cheapest, relative to his ability.

Erik Cole yesterday and Marek Zidlicky today - I might have to bring out the Detroit Dead Things jokes again.

:D

That third from DET is conditional: jumps to 2nd if DET makes SCF.

what do you think the asking is? I have a feeling its NOT the actual prospect/pick package but Detroit wanting Toronto to keep a huge chunk of that salary
Yep. Keep lots of money. Maybe take Weiss or Franzen.

I keep hoping Dallas or Colorado will step in but that wouldn't happen until the summer. Besides, I'm wary of passing Detroit scapegoated Leafs defencemen...

I get this odd feeling that the Pens are getting a Dman. Ehrhoff was held out of the game yesterday, seemed like precaution/easing him into game play after a month off, but...leaves me uncomfortable. And Despres' status is up in the air now too. Two of the top six up in the air?

Why, do you think he's going to be suspended for boarding Johansen yesterday?

There's not much about Russell that I'd want...other than his TOI, doesn't look like there's much to love about his stats. Can't say I've seen him play much at all.

You're missing out. The only guys the Jackets have let go of in the past 8 years that I wish they hadn't are Nash and Russell.

Him alongside Murray would be a thing of beauty. One of the most underrated guys in the league. Consider this: Hitchcock has a long standing reputation of not giving the time of day to young players. The first guy he traded for when he got to St Louis was Russell. In Russell's third pro season.

Just to add to 43's post above, Wideman's offensive resurgence this season is largely due to having the steady Kris Russell covering his butt and allowing Dennis to take more chances. I would also add that Russell has a great deal of respect in the Flames dressing room which is probably the reason he wears an 'A' on his jersey.
