I get the financial side of this...but holy molasses, I can't believe that Nonis was able to trade Clarkson. Seriously, good on him. He just bought cap space. Anyone think maybe the league takes issue with this?

Dont yhink so ... An owner who cant make payments is now saving cash

I have to believe that Jarmo has a plan. I can't possibly imagine what it is at this point.

They haven't legalized hard drugs here, so that explanation is out.

Apparently Horton's contract wasn't insured. Oi vey. Again, I get it...but the Jackets have some questionable contracts on the books now:

Hartnell - 4.75M x 4
Dubinsky - 5.85M x 6
Foligno - 5.5M x 6
Clarkson - 5.25M x 5

Foligno is fine, but that's a lot of money to not Ryan Johansen in a few years.

Nonis had a plan two summers ago, too. It was based around Clarkson.

Let me know how this works out for ya.

I know it's as likely as Horton coming back and winning the Richard trophy, but I will laugh my ass off if Clarkson scores 30 next year.

Even moreso if he winds up in Edmonton as part of a package for Hall or Eberle.

Can anyone suggest a fine champagne? I'm feeling festive.

Are you more of a brut or a sweet type? I'm a fan of the mildly sweet stuff myself...nice bubble to it.

Really though, enjoy this. First GREAT move the Leafs have made in awhile. And it's them admitting their mistake.

I am not happy about the Dubinsky contract (and obviously Clarskon is an albatross), but I am okay with Hartnell and Foligno.

Issue with his contract has always been more of term. I know, intangibles yadda yadda yadda, but still a big hit for an aging player.

Been saying for years the best thing that can happen to this team is an implosion. I love how it's playing out so far.

Best of all, it shows that guys like Phaneuf, Lupul and Bozak aren't entirely untraceable.
