I have no statistical evidence to back any of this up, but it seems like jacking with the lineup on a regular basis produces inconsistent results.

I think the statistical evidence would be a very small sample size because it is very rarely done. That isn't the "baseball way".

I like Bannister's idea here. I guess we will see how it works.

Yea ... sticking with David Murphy batting 6th or 7th worked out a whole lot better.

It was hilarious the year where Wash would have to put in other second basemen when Kinsler was hurt and no matter who the second baseman was he would hit leadoff because that was where Kinsler hit.

I thought about that earlier as well. He would actually do that with a number of positions.

Bennie -- after posting I went back and looked at Andres Blanco 2010 game logs when he subbed for mainly Kinsler when he was on the DL for large part of August. There are times he was an in game sub batting #2 ... but when he had a CG at 2B ... he batted 8th for the most part.

I heard on the radio two days ago DeShields had already made the team and was the announced opening day starter in CF (due to the dreaded Lefty-lefty match up). Martin will be our CF day-in-and-out.

Don't remember who said it, but it was on 105.3, and they quoted Bannister.
