But is an not up to speed Perez better than what we may be rolling out in the 4th and 5th this year? Not sure how long it will take to get his arm strength back. He will need to spend some time in the minors rehabbing.
I think Romeo has it about right. Perez will make an appearance at some time but most likely be 1st stage of his come back to the rotation. Harrison is a wild guess at best right now.But is an not up to speed Perez better than what we may be rolling out in the 4th and 5th this year? I do expect Perez to be in the rotation for a large part of the second half. Even though he won't be at his best, he will most likely be better than what we rolled out in either the 4th or 5th spots in the rotation last year.
Harrison on the other hand cannot be counted on, but I still wouldn't be shocked to see him make a handful of starts. Together between Matt and Martin I think it is okay to expect several starts from a combination of the two of them that would be better statistically than what we were rolling out there at the bottom of the rotation last year.
I don't think Fielder has done that well hitting third. He's typically better as the scary guy hitting clean up or 5th in the order to make pitchers pitch to guys in from of him. I like Choo hitting third.
So you would be shocked if he was added to the rotation in August?I repeat, do not count on Perez.

I would be surprised if he was pitching every fifth day in the majors and giving quality starts.
Ah, but I never said how many quality starts I expected from him. I just said I thought what he would give us would be an improvement over what we got out of the bottom of the rotation last season. Although, I wouldn't put it past the kid to throw in a quality start every now and then.
In my mind I picture Colby's pre-ASG 2014... Perez will most likely be in the rotation later in the year, but he'll need to rediscover all the elements of what it takes to pitch in games again. And that may take until 2016 ST before he's 100% with all that again.

Well, I am not a betting man, but if I was I would certainly bet that Perez will put up numbers in August and September that will be better than what we got last year from guys like Saunders, Mikolas, Scheppers, Ross, Williams, and Irwin. And I'm telling you, don't bet on it.
I think he will be closer to Colby's post-ASG 2014 performances. Colby was pretty bad pre-ASG last year. I don't think the kid will have an ERA north of 6.00 like Colby did at the break last year. He probably won't have the 3.86 Colby put up post-ASG, but it should be closer to that than 6.00.

I think you can see TEX thinking that Choo with Martin on the roster and in the lineup is better moved to batting third moving Prince to either cleanup or to bat behind Beltre. With Martin and Elvis supplying higher OBP in the 1 and 2 spots... I think a Choo-Beltre-Prince middle of the batting order should be quite fearsome.
Might as well look at the total picture here, Adrian Beltre (Career)
