For mags sake I hope it's mostly younger guys going forward. Hard to work with stubborn Kinsler types that don't wanna listen to a word you have to say.Rangers' Fielder working on timing coming off neck surgery
Rangers first baseman Prince Fielder, who is expected to make his spring debut Wednesday, appears to be doing well coming off neck surgery.
"Good … everything is smooth," Fielder said, per MLB.com. "My legs are not sore so it's all good."
The Rangers are watching Fielder's swing closely as he is facing live pitching for the first time in 9 1/2 months.
"He's doing OK," hitting coach Dave Magadan said, "He's a typical veteran player who is just trying to get his timing. We are trying to solidify some of the stuff we talked about in the offseason. Last year he was crashing into the ball, now we're getting him to hold his ground. Timing is huge. With him it's going as well as expected. Once he gets into the flow of games and gets his timing down, everybody will see a big difference.
"The goal is to hold your ground and get the ball into the air on the pull side. When he does that, it means he is going good."
Be nice to see Prince get back to being his old self. Im still on the fence on Magadan, but we shall see

Maybe for the same reason Elvis may return to form in the 2 hole finding the gaps again instead of the bunt.Same here on Magadan but will give him a chance with a new manager and approach to hitting where we are not always taking the bat out of the players hands.
I think Magadan will be gone once his contract is up. They seemed to want him to leave a few months ago.
They let him look for another job. Once he couldn't find one they let him stay.Refresh me. What are you referring to?
I liked what I saw from him for the most part last year.

My thoughts exactly. My memory of this was a team - don't remember which one - asked the Rangers for permission to interview him, which was granted. He wasn't offered the position and the Rangers brought him back.
Frankly, if the Rangers didn't want him, he wouldn't be here.
Magadan out after his contract is up and Young in as hitting coach?

I've had people tell me 1 to 0 is really boring. Obviously no appreciation for good pitching/ defense. Takes a while to learn all that I suppose.I am so ready for baseball to start. It is by far my favorite sport. For so many years I had to listen to many in the state of Texas tell me how boring baseball is. More so in the upper half of Texas where the Cowboys were IT. One thing that really helped get people to pay attention and try and understand that there is more to the game than a guy just throwing a ball and another guy trying to hit it was the Rangers making it to 2 WS.
