well, it certainly seems like JD is content with waiting for Choo to sign, or else he's rolling out what he has.
lol.... Martin and his .300 OBP leading off, Mitch Moreland as the DH...a prospect in left field.... (less worried about Profar, at least he has some time in)

If no Choo, I really don't understand how we are going to score more runs than last season. Might be incredibly painful to watch. Who knows, doesn't matter, we end up pulling for whatever team is fielded, and if they are horrible... maybe Wash is gone for the 2015 season.

Well, it's blasphemy to ever say anything slightly negative about JD.
So he's a genius and I'm sure we'll be "competitive" as JD recently put it.
Choo may sign, who knows. Still won't be a team that sniffs the playoffs, unless the younger players surprise, which is certainly possible.

Just an overall blah feeling. I am surprised he wasn't more aggressive, whatever...the league looks to be a little tougher at this point. Maybe a season where we go in expecting to contend for 2nd place is due, the biggest thing that bothers me is wasting a year with Yu.
I'm sure he'll be thrilled with even less run support.
At least Barfolo is gone.

funny how those fans can fill Wrigley year after year and never make the playoffs....
oh, I think they did a couple times, so there's that. I know far more Cubs fans than Ranger fans, and they are the most miserable baseball bunch ever. Good people, just bitter for obvious reasons

There's no doubting our loyalty.

It's not our fault the Cubs shit the bed year after year.

I do think the organization is content with going the kids route if it means not having to severely overpay pretty good FA's. When you have one of the best organizations and farm system in baseball, needing to play kids, give them their chances and letting them take their lumps just come part of the territory. I want Choo and/or Cruz or both if possible but I think JD and clan realize that overpaying for guys that aren't special isn't the best route. I mean 120+ million for Choo seems ridiculous. The price of players are just going up and up astronomically.

The musings of the tragically unfunny....

Wasn't trying to be funny.

I've been to Arlington one time, I enjoyed it. Rangers put a solid product on the field as well.

Nice park, good product, should have a higher attendance.

Truth be told I'm 50/50 on Cubs fans...half of them seem complete douches and jackasses and the other half some nice people but are truly loyal and die hard.

Oh and 3 million fans the last few years should certainly indicate people care and go to the games as well as its a top 4 market.

LOL top 5 in attendance back to back years, but they need better attendance. I was in O'hare airport once, so does that make me an expert on the Cubs fanbase?

Yeah it is. Shoulda let the man bring his goat....

Lol, I remember in 08, when we had the best record in baseball. Our front office brought in a goat before game 1 vs the Dodgers.

Needless to say, didn't work.

10k+ posts in this thread?

Jesus Christ, more Ranger fans on the SportsHoopla than the Ballpark in Arlington.

You got your jab in, now leave

Arlington is a big park isn't it? Seating wise I mean.

I don't know, it just never looks full from a TV standpoint. I guess I could always be wrong.

2003 NLCS was crazy. I was rooting for the Marlins though. Love for Pudge was just too high. That Kerry Wood homer in that series was craze balls.

Bartman is a fan, and helped the team shit the bed. Your argument is invalid, so go away.

I'd love to talk baseball more on the SportsHoopla, but the Cubs board is next to dead. (under 200 posts in the off season thread)

So it wasn't a jab, I'd call it more a jealousy problem that you have 10k posts.

Capacity is 50K. It's in Arlington which has affected attendance after the spike in gas prices a decade ago along with a shit ton of traffic to get there. Not an excuse but reality. Some games will draw better than others but for the most part people go to the games here. And yes I'm ok with not having fans not go to the games if teams are going to field a shitty product. That just shows that fans expect at least a decent product on the field. With the few exception every town is a winners town.

And let's not forget the heat. The heat has affected some people in going to the games given that there are plenty of options in a big city especially watching in the comfort of your home in a big screen HD TV.

It's the 7th biggest park in seating capacity in the league. So you can average more than Wrigley's capacity, which they did in 2012, and still only be 86.9% full.

I agree, but the prices aren't going down. And let's not pretend like the only way to be a contender is a gross overspend on a FA. See last years Series
I expected more trades...maybe this a three year plan, he plans to strike later

who knows, I certainly don't
