were there Cruz death threats? I remember thinking he was in the wrong spot and cost us the title, but don't remember hearing death threats.

I don't know about Cruz death threats, but there were open death threats regarding Hamilton on the ESPN board, that were eventually deleted I think.

If they did a movie about Nelson Cruz and the Rangers fanbase you would see similar crap I can only imagine...

Maybe so. But a few of those even to this day were still laughing and touting what they were doing to Bartman during the game. Like those jackasses are probably like 40 now and still act like that. Not saying all fanbases have their share of fuckers but man I'm thinking it wouldn't be as bad but maybe I'm wrong.

Haha such a weird and crazy story. I"m not sure what would truly enter any persons mind to even say something like that regardless if it's true or not.

I fully believe everything she says is just an act, because she knows the ratings and response it will get. I don't think people at Fox are as dumb as those across the aisle make them out to be. They know exactly what sells and pander to their base.

Would you be opposed to doing what the Yankees did and building new on the same site?

Yeah I would.

It's hard to explain, there's just something about Wrigley. I go to multiple games every season, and Wrigley never fails to be breath taking.

I've heard from many sources that it's just rundown and while the mystique is still there it's kind of a dump. Also heard the same about Fenway.

I agree. Do what Boston is doing and keep it. To me I love baseball so freaking much that any baseball park I go to it will be magical and breathtaking. Even Tropicana Field lol.

Won't lie to you. After watching Catching Hell I wished nothing failure for the Cubs til the end of time. Some of those jackasses in the film really pissed me off.

Cubs fans are die hards. But what happened to Bartman is something I don't agree with.

Last place you want to be is around the Wrigley neighborhood when the Cubs are knocked out of the playoffs. Whether it be '03, '07 or '08. It gets ugly real quick.

Only one park in baseball doubles as night club! Let's go to the trop and get hammered and dance!

They probably just need to renovate it. Kinda do like what Chicago did to Soldier Field and the Packer did with Lambeau. It'll be a dump if they keep it close to what it's been for decades and decades. If they renovate and maintain but still able to keep it's charm I think it would be the best option. But then again I love old school and nostalgia. Part of me says I'd give up the Deathstar and go back to Texas Stadium.

It's not a lost season, it's just not a playoff team

IMO it's much too early to think this. But hey, this is what this site is all about.

JD may have a trade of trades in his back pocket and all will be right with the baseball world. I think he's going to be very aggressive on Tanaka and this could swing a huge deal, provided of course his current club posts him.

So what are your thoughts about not saving the Astrodome in Houston? (I think it was the right move to not save it.)

I agree. But again we can all only speculate what is in the minds and intentions of the Rangers brass.

Sure, I'm just talking about the team as currently constructed, and JD's repeated claims that he is done making any major moves. I think he's quite serious.
I don't know if 'minor' moves are going to cut it, when you don't have a leadoff hitter, don't have a DH, and have a prospect starting in LF

(assuming Choo doesn't sign)

I'm just saying assuming no more moves

I hear ya. But I can't phantom another shoe not dropping. I don't think we've got all our eggs in the Choo/Cruz basket either.

Here's what it is.

The neighbor and the outside of Wrigley are great. Baseball is a way of life for a Cubs fan, and the neighborhood really embraces that.
The view of the field, from the seats, breath taking, love it.

But anywhere inside that shell, meaning the bathrooms and the concessions, is a pure dump. Wrigley is in desperate need of total renovation, while still keeping the look.

Of course and I don't blame him. 65 million is a ton and he's going to a great city and great sports town. And if that means anything to him there is no state income tax in Washington. I don't blame Cano. All of us would have done the same thing.

I'm finding it very easy to dislike him right now.

Everyone that's a contender (and beyond) thinks they'll sign Tanaka...wait until you see THAT bidding war
who's going to score runs for him anyway?

;)

I agree.

Like I said, I've been to Arlington once. And I enjoyed it.

It was a game vs the Mariners a few years ago. It went 18 innings, and Soriano hit the walk off.

Great time, I'd go to Arlington again

I hope they get on that then. Would it totally gentrify the area to do so? (FUCCKKKKKK Rangers fans I just got really sad that I will never again get to ask for some GENTRYFICATION in the game :( :( :( :( :( )

Admittedly I don't know enough about the Astrodome as others. I do know some it's history but I think it was also the right move to not save it. Mainly because they already have MMP and Reliant. I guess they could have converted it into a casino complex or whatever but I'm not really sure how those would do well. I remember when Dallas was thinking about doing that to Reunion but doubt it'd be worthwhile.
