So he wants an 8th year? Which would give him a contract until he's 40? He would almost have to be a DH part time outfielder the last 2-3 years. Yeah not unless the last 2 years are for 5 million per and both team options. Too rich for me, time to move on

I believe we have a 6 year offer on the table for him right now.

Why on earth players want to play that long is beyond me. He will be bench fodder by then. Look at MY. Don't give him a no trade clause whatever you do, JD. :gaah:

No way in a year with multiple really good outfield FA's this guy gets more than a 4 possibly 5 year deal even from an AL team that he can DH on the last year. 8 years is ludicrous

Sign with Houston, Choo. PLEASE! This is tiring. This is not the second coming of Lou Gehrig.

Exactly, I want to 'win now' too, but this is ridiculous
JD can find another way.

He undoubtably would make the Rangers better but he doesn't guarantee anything as best I can tell

It's gotta be EA or Odor, we're going to be in the same boat soon anyway
How do you play all three? I don't mean this year, but if JD wants to stay in this pitching window...he's got to move someone, I say Odor

and here it comes.....

I think we could money whip Cruz, and 4 sure is alot better than 7 or 8
and Cruz isn't with Boras

That's the problem......Boras clients are always tough to negotiate with. That jackass uses every dirty trick in the book.

JD could over pay Cruz by 1 million per year and say give him 16 million per for 4 years and end up at 64 million vs almost double the years and the money for Choo. No thanks, sign Cruz and Morales and lets go win a pennant. Cruz doesn't cost you a draft pick either, do it JD.

Makes me respect EA even more, we know damn well Boras wanted to take him to the market.
I have no doubt EA put his foot down.

Right, we know it's a ridiculous offer for Cruz, but it's half the commitment
I'd try 3 years first, if rumors are to be believed, we wouldn't go higher than 2

He put his foot down and wanted to stay and is in the process or just bought "moose" johnston's old house in dallas and is a very, very rich young man.

Guys, I just don't see who else even wants choo? Every team besides us has seemingly backed off. I got a reassuring text not long ago that said " Higher ranking scout confirms that seattle can't afford choo. They are focusing on cruz."

So the Reds backed off, the mariners did, the astros just flat out suck. Detroit seems to be doing its own thing at the moment signing fat overrated pitchers. So I mean, where else would he go? He is sorta facing a FA crisis at the moment. No one wants him at his price, and only one team is interested so there is no competition to raise the offer

Speaking of MY...

"There is a chance that Michael Young could rejoin the Rangers if both parties see a fit, MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez tweets."

So in other words, if Michael Young wants to play for the Rangers, and the Rangers want Michael Young to play for them, and they can agree on how much he will make and what his role will be, then yeah, there's a "chance" he will be back.

Talk about an absolutely empty rumor. Someone should tell Jesse Sanchez that both parties seeing a fit is how all free agent moves come about.

I can almost guarantee someone will pay Choo 110 million for 5 in this weak FA market but I hope it isn't the Rangers. Bor"ass" is just milking everyone for more, which is what he's paid to do. I would just rather sign Cruz for half the term and money and pick up a leadoff type guy in Otis Nixon(juan pierre) and a DH type like Morales. Kidding on Juan Pierre.
