Boras is a turd.... I couldn't believe how long he stuck it out for Lohse last year in free agency.

What makes you think that? I will go ahead and give you the fact that Leonys and Profar will make some improvement

and adding Fielder helps with more hr's probably but with Profar taking over for Kins you have to hope he is at least as productive as Ian was last year. He won't score as many runs as Ian and won't match Ian's OBP or BA likely and Ian had a down year. I just don't see how you can say the offense will be better

Sorry guys, I've been traveling to Richardson all day. I have no news though. I texted my friend why he thought choo hadn't signed yet and he said "I have no idea. We're shocked"

I am also beginning to wonder about all of this. How long does it take Choo to make a decision. Especially if no one else is in on him, according to Terps friend. What retire? Is Boras trying to generate another interested party. It's a delicate thing, I suppose, but should JD give Choo a deadline? Then actually withdraw the contract?

Another text, also very unrevealing said "It looks like we're at a stalemate. He wants another year and we don't want to add one. Its gonna be whoever caves first"

I don't think he should. But you could go both ways I guess. Boras is known for holding out, so maybe a deadline would be nice. But the only way we should have a deadline is if we're 100 percent sure he's a lock to sign here, cuz lord knows if he isn't then boras won't care about any deadline

That's not good. He's giving others a chance to swoop in.

Is it 6 with an option or 7 with an option he's offered.

I think he should give him a deadline, if he does that...he can move more agressively
he almost has too anyway, quite honestly
or just move on, the biggest mistake would be letting Boras string you along.
no way JD plays that game.

based on what?

AJ, Jeff Baker, Gentry, Cruz, Kinsler gone and replaced by Soto/JP, Rosales, Choice, Rios and Fielder. Sure Fielder gives you more HR's but aside from that where is the offense going to get better? You lose HR production from Cruz being gone as well, so if you add nothing like he says thats really a wash adding fielder.

It's not better, I agree. It might be worse...
but, we've got prospects, he's got to consider moving some of them, and I'm sure he is

So he wants an 8th year? Which would give him a contract until he's 40? He would almost have to be a DH part time outfielder the last 2-3 years. Yeah not unless the last 2 years are for 5 million per and both team options. Too rich for me, time to move on

yeah, good question, how many freaking years are we talking about for Choo?
6 with an option for 7 assuming he was in the 120-130 mill range was far and above what he's even close to being worth

Boras holds to many cards, just get away from him, let someone else give Choo 8 freaking years
INSANITY

Why on earth players want to play that long is beyond me. He will be bench fodder by then. Look at MY. Don't give him a no trade clause whatever you do, JD. :gaah:

Exactly, I want to 'win now' too, but this is ridiculous
JD can find another way.

I assume he would demand one. This is a big problem because Boras knows the OF FA is even worse next year
gotta start trading
