Recent quote from scott boras at the meetings "Scott Boras calls Shin-Soo Choo a rare talent, says he doesn't necessarily need to sign with a 2014 contender."

Seems like he's just trying to get our price up. Notice that most of the rumors of mystery teams are from the AL west lol. Yesterday it was seattle, today its houston. Probably a reason for that

He doesn't need to sign with a contender but he WANTS to.

The ONLY reason why I think scott would be public and say that is because of the rumors of choo considering the astros offer. He probably saw that and ran to the nearest reporter he could to make that statement haha

I don't mean to come off as racist here, but if choo were to sign with the astros he would be the dumbest asian I know

Haha. Well I guess when you bank 120+ million you've certainly done something right.

It's tough to leave money on the table so it's certainly understandable if indeed Houston made an offer that is very appealing. It could even be a week or two before Choo will want to decide where he signs.

I can't imagine a competitive athlete looking at Houston and saying to himself, for an extra 8 mil I'll sign there. Competitive being the key word. Houston lost 111 games last year, and at best are 3 years away from even being competitive, much less contending. I just can't see it.

If he's legitimately thinking about the Houston offer I highly doubt it's for 8 million. Could very well be north of 20 million and beyond. I don't care how rich you already are or how much more rich you're going to get but that is a lot of money either way. Not saying he'd legitimately consider them and sign there but the almighty dollar is one powerful thing.

Of the major league invites its 40. Minor league I'm not sure because theres several different teams. I think they split the organization up into like 5 teams or something

Thanks. I was pretty sure on the 40 MLB but haven't a clue on the minors.

I dont think the houston thing is anymore then a stupid rumor to get JD's attention. They offered him a while back ago. If the offer was THAT overwhelming he probably wouldve inked it.

I've sat here for 5 minutes and tried to think of a metaphor as bad as signing with houston but I literally can't.

I picked the 8 Mil outta the air, just for conversation sake. And you're exactly right about the dollar.

I've always subscribed to the George Brett school of logic. When asked why he left money on the table and signed with KC - back when KC was really good - he said something to the effect of "I love it here, and besides how many boats do I need?" hahaha

But again, you're right about the dollar.

Yeah I think there is just some media ploys by boras to try to get us to offered a 7th guaranteed year. But he is probably already set on signing with us.

I thought of one. It would be like me accepting an offer to work for donald trump here for 500,000 a year and KNOWING it will be successful, or having an offer to work in north korea for 700,000.

Edit: Didn't even think about Choo's ethnicity when I wrote that. How ironic

That's why Brett is awesome. Lots of us say we would do something similar but many of us haven't in a situation to prove it.

So, you'd choose North Korea, right?

K I just read a tweet that said #Rangers sign Shin Soo Choo from some Reds blog. But when I clicked on it it said it didn't exist. So they deleted it. thought it was interesting

Oh btw, saw this on twitter too and got a chuckle

"The texas rangers now have a better quarterback then the dallas cowboys."

I'm not a romo hater by any means but I thought that was funny
