Here is why it's a dumb trade.

EE is cheap and provides insane value because of his cheapness. Guys that DH and still put up that much value are rare, so Texas would have to trade similar value. Buckel/Moreland/Ogando/Sardinas is not similar value. Derek Holland and Martin Perez however are.

That's why I don't think it makes sense to trade Dutch or MP

It does if you get back that value in a place of need. Yeah in a world where Texas ended up with Tanaka , you ship Holland to Toronto before the guy is introduced in his first American press conference.

Totally disagree. If you sign tanaka then you trade LuJack and farmhands.

depends on the farmhands....But, again, Toronto only trades EE if they're going full blown rebuild, at that point they'd want the top prospects. Some combo of LuJack, Buckel, ChiChi, Gallo, Sardinas, Hickory OFs could easily get it done. And that's leaving out Odor n Alfaro

I'm not for getting EE right now. I want an outfielder. I don't care to trade the farm for a dh that still leaves a void in a corner OF spot

I think you trade major league value for major league value here and nothing less if you are Toronto.

Because they offer maximum value back for the Blue Jays. Sending them a load of prospects for a cheap player makes no sense on their end. They've also been linked to Holland in the past in rumors.

not always the case. sometimes teams look to get future value so it is just as possible that the right package combination could swing a deal
