I'll have to watch the Senior Bowl again but...

Likes:
Day one types with the pass rush in mind:
DT Aaron Donald
Dee Ford, Game MVP that got after the QB...jumped offsides too.
They'll need to trade up to get either one IMO because they played well all week long. I hope Donald is the hot name and the Pats get a shot at a player like Timmy Jernigan because of it....won't hold my breath on that one.

Day two or three:
DT DaQuan Jones, good but not great combo of power and athleticism
DT Will Sutton...Geno Atkins type potential
Jimmie Ward, better in coverage safety
Deone Buchannon, better in run support safety
Crockett Gilmore TE, good blocker and receiver. Won't be a star IMO but could be a good player.
ILB Chris Borland...got through the trash and made plays. Solid, smart "football player".
DT Caraun Reid, played well for an Ivy Leaguer

Hageman didn't jump off the screen. Buchannon is the more physical safety but Ward is probably the better fit for the Pats.

I am going to have to look into Ward.

Alex Mack and Joe Berger C from Cleveland and Minn are both FA what would all think if we picked up one of these two?

Agreed, and if we get cap space from Aaron I can see that happening. I would be elated.

I was thinking about De Le Puente as well with that name he just seems to fit where he is. But there are some decent centers out there we can make a run at and for go drafting one.

Yea, I doubt that De La Puente is going anywhere as well. With that said - it appears that there is some free agent talent at the center position including Larsen, a former Patriot.

Agreed and this is a position where I prefer a seasoned guy to a rookie so hopefully the team moves in the FA direction.

Not sure Ford is a Rd1 guy. He got one of those sacks cause he was off sides, at least I think he was. IMO he was shut down by Martin the entire game, except for the holding call, he actually lined up on the opp side of Martin for most of the game. He might have moved into the 2nd rd, but not 1st. I like your 2nd day guys, esp Sutton, Gilmore, Curaun.

No way in hell!! Trade up for a TE when the better of the two in Jenkins goes in the 2nd. Pass on Tuitt, Nix, Hagg...then draft a WR from LSU with the 2nd....god no....LOL

Eric - I would not listen to SB Nation when it comes to draft projections. They are worse than Walter Football.com.

As much as I like Amaro and Landry, defensive tackle is their largest need followed by tight end. They definitely don't need to draft a wide receiver in the 2nd round, especially someone like Landry because of Edelman, Amendola as well as having Collie.

Amaro is suppose to be the best TE in the group, while we have a need for TE I can agree that trading up might not make sense unless BB flat out falls in love with this kid. I am not at all convinced DT is a bigger need then TE, C, SS or DE. As I have said Wilfork and Kelly will be back, Armestead should be available this year and the rooks got so much time this year they can easily fill in as needed.

I am still going with DE/TE for the 1st. That mock just shocked me. Atl cannot move up because they have no picks, and they might need a TE now that Tony G is done. I still think this team can get a good TE in the 2nd. We don't need to replace Gronk, we need to replace AHern and get a TE that can catch. I think that can be found in the 2nd with Jenkins, Niklas, kid from Iowa(forgot name). Can also grab Gilmore from Colo St and Lynch from Georgia. I am thinking Tuitt, Jenkins(TE), McGill for the 1st 3 picks.

I agree, but we would like more then a TE that can catch, agility, speed, versatile would be nice and I am sure we can wait. But if we somehow ended up with Amaro that would not break my heart he fits that mode.

As for DT I just flat out do not agree that is a position of need early on.

I hear ya. Not sure Amaro would even go that high. I can wait till the later rounds for a DT, there are some good ones that can be had. I am all about getting that DE who can rush and a TE that can catch and block. Going to be interesting for sure.

Ford looked more like he was timing his rush instead of waiting for the snap and that can cause trouble in the NFL...I mentioned he was offsides but he was close to it a few more times. He still had a good overall week and I think he did enough to go in the 1st. The mock that was just posted in this thread has him going at 38 so somewhere in the top 32 by May isn't a stretch for him. If the Pats had him he'd be going against RTs with Jones attacking mostly the right side so he wouldn't be facing the best in the business. All I know is I want to see a faster developing pass rush from the outside and the middle next year. A player like Ford can make the QB step up into trouble if they can get a middle rush going.

Patriots | Interested in trading up?
Tue, 28 Jan 2014 16:09:07 -0800
The New England Patriots are rumored to make a big splash in the draft, according to a trusted source of CSNNE.com's Tom E. Curran, pro director of player personel and head of the Patriots scouting department briz almighty recently returned from a hiatas on Sporthoopla's message board. After being banned on the site from posting on any message board other than the Patriots by corrupt power-hungry moderators the director has returned and turned his attention to the draft. Only a few eyewitnesses managed to get a glimpse of him exiting the helicopter escorted by heavily armed guards. Witnesses report they heard him say three words. "I'm Back" and "Clowney."
