theres more to it though .. the draft lottery was Apr 17 ... he then played 6 playoff games v the Soo and put up 20 points

all the while matched up primarily against the future of the Coilers defense Darnell Nurse

so yah ... he has given up

Halifax' Nikolaj Ehlers hasn't played since his team was eliminated in the 2nd round but still leads the Q in playoff scoring by 6 over Quebec's Adam Erne. It's not completely unrealistic to suggest his lead might hold. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that something like that could happen in the Q.

Game 4 is tonight. I know Oshawa has been one of the best teams in the OHL all season. Are they a good all around team? Are they the best defensive team Erie has played all season? Their goalie seems to be good that's for sure.

but right now their coach is doing everything he can to get McDavid away from Cassels ... and it cost McDavid some ice time last game

Looks like the Canucks have found themselves a very good all around Center in the hopefully near future.

I'm starting to think the Canucks have a hidden gem in Cole Cassels - His dad had a solid NHL career (204 goals and 732 points is nothing to sneeze at)

Meh. Only thing we can compare right now are Junior stats, and Dad was a far more prolific scorer.

Dont get me wrong. I love the guy. But really, I see him max out as 3rd line, shutdown centre. [Not that there's anything wrong with that].

Ill double down on that MEH and say those were different times ... times when Nick Kypreos scored 62 in a season lol

62? Had to look it up. OMG. You dont see that kind of change in player style often. At all.

I was at that game. Marc Savard (front row, second from right) scored in OT to win it. Damn the Civic got loud.

Several future NHLers on the team. Danny Hinote, Bryan Allen, Kevin Colley (damn shame, neck injury cut his career way too short), Jeff Ware (another awesome Leaf #1 pick). LAK fans might recognize John Tripp (#11, back left).

Basically, the team was Marc Savard and a bunch of blue collar guys who would never get past the College/University/ECHL/AHL/Europe level.

To illustrate how dominant Marc Savard (all hail) was he had 130 points that year and the second most points on the team (62 points) belonged to the guy on his right, #3 Marty Wilford (defenseman). Wilford worked harder than anyone on that team. Wasn't blessed with the most natural skill, he busted his a$$ and made it to the AHL level but never got any further. I still remember, during warmups before every game, Wilford would go out around centre ice, stand against the boards and pass the puck cross the ice to another teammate on the other side. Back and forth, passing the puck, practicing endlessly. Did it his whole career in OSH.
