Did yall get Greinke?

Still no word. I'm getting the feeling they did but they're keeping quiet about it for one reason or another. Like they've got something else cooking.

Greinke is a very analytical cat. It makes sense that he'd look into all the details before choosing his long term deal. The dodgers are spending truckloads of money and that makes them very competitive for now but not necessarily in the future.

Greinke probably likes the Texas organization and how it's built. They have maybe the deepest farm system in baseball and they balance their newfound wealth with smart decisions. The organization is built with an empasis in defense and pitching as well as offense now. Texas has one of the best if not the best gm in all of baseball. It makes sense why he might want to pitch here.

Nolan Ryan and the rest of the Rangers front office blew Greinke away, Jim Bowden of ESPN and MLB Network Radio reports (on Twitter). Greinke apparently loves the team's chances of winning the World Series.

quick question to everyone here. At what point do you Start using ERA on a pitcher instead of FIP and xFIP?

Era is a good number, but only when considered in context with other peripheral stats. Era by itself isn't a good enough indicator of a quality pitcher. It's better than a w-l record though I suppose.

So to answer your question. Never. It must be used with other stats.

true. But was just wondering, because greinke Fip and Xfip are very very good. But he never matches it.

Could have a lot to do with the defense playing behind him. With a defense like Texas has I think you'd see those nbers coming closer together.

Anibal has played in front of worse and almost same numbers as greinke. But who knows, i believe he will be better with texas maybe put up cole hamels type numbers. Cole pitches in a big hitters park.

Sign Greinke, trade for Upton, then
I think we should offer Michael Bourn a one year 15mil contract to see if he bites. He's not getting the kind of offers he'd like to it would be interesting.

If Bourn signs we could look to move Nellie or play him at DH.

Bourn is a cf. we don't need a cf. Martin deserves a chance to seize the job. Otherwise, what are we paying him for?
