Exactly. Nobody is eating that salary, but us.

Someone will eat it.... but it'll cost the team in prospects (higher grade or more quantity) or in more money/leverage.

IE....say the Rangers and Phillies got together for a deal. The 2 main pieces being moved were Lee and Young.

Instead of the Rangers getting any money back on Lee's contract, they might have to eat the whole thing - in order to ship off Young. As well as Mike Olt, pitcher prospect A & B.

Any who pray tell do you think would be stupid enough to pick up MY's contract?

Had a thought the other day ... MY more than anything wants 3k hits. But there is little chance he gets another contract from anyone after this one to get within 2 years of making it.

Why not have TEX give him a new 3/24 contract ... then trade him to COL and agree to eat $4mil x 2 of the $24. TEX would have paid him $16mil so saves $8mil and the roster spot... COL gets a 1bman who could thrive at Coors ... and MY gets his shot at 3k hits.

he is at 2230 hits and is 36 years old he would have to average 256+ hits a season over those 3 years to reach 3000. even he recognizes that at his age 3000 is out of reach and no team is going to take him for 1 year much less 3 with his declining defensive skills. it is a pipe-dream to think that there is a team out there that would agree to take him

Well I think we should all chip in and have him mow our yards or something... we could probably put a pretty good package together if we all work together.

But I agree ... has not been entertaining the past few seasons watching MY go over the 'physical cliff'.

i'm not sure about the "watching MY go over the 'physical cliff" over the past few seasons but i will agree with you about last season. to me he was entertaining in 2011 with his .338 BA, 230+ hits and his 106 RBI's but boy what a decline in 1 year

$$$$ trending up..........arm is trending down. Not a good trade.

Glad the Angels made it though.

he is just beginning arb. years and i think a article said he would make 4 mil this year......i would take him

cant really say is arm is trending downwards...yes he has been injured the last couple of years but still puts up solid numbers when he is pitching.....and is only 26

not to mention he could have been had for cheap if all they got was walden back in return

maybe it was injuries/not healing......but i still would bring him in for the price they sold him for and not think twice......then roll the savings over into BP and offensive players

What I like best is that he's taking up a roster spot.

From mlbtraderumors: The Rangers have non-tendered Geovany Soto, Brandon Snyder, and Jacob Brigham according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan

Probably try to negotiate a better deal with Soto.
