This. Profar is a prospect you don't turn loose of without getting a cy young pitcher or MVP player. The list of players I'd trade Profar for a very short.

Price
Verlander
Kershaw
Hamels
Cain
King Felix
Strasburg

Trout
Miguel Cabrera
Buster posey

That's pretty much it.

I agree with this also but profar could end up being an average major leaguer, you never know.

That's the case with any prospect, but everything we've seen so far says otherwise. According to reports Profar is as "can't miss" as it gets. He looks like he could be our version of Trout. We'd have to get rid of our coke head manager to find out though.

Luis Sardinas, Justin Grimm, Luke Jackson, Neil Ramirez, Roman Mendez, Engel Beltre (They have no use for Mike Olt with Moustakas and Hosmer)

Not all those guys mind you, but I would build a package around those players, maybe David Murphy or Cruz if they want a 1 year stop gap in the OF

They can roll with Murphy/Cruz, Cain and Myers in the OF next year, or just take the prospects and use Francouer next year

I'd try for Billy Butler & Alex Gordon.....

Or Hosmer and Gordon.

Rays are reportedly listening on shields. I'd sure as hell try to get something together for him if they're not unreasonable. I'd start it with Moreland and maybe add Perez. I'd feel much better about our pitching situation with shields in the mix. Would decrease the pressure to sign Greinke who I'm not sure is that much better than shields.

Shields is a pretty consistent 4.5 WAR pitcher who is continuing to produce ground balls at a better rate each year. Last year was over 50% gb/fb.

Then sign LaRoche.

No way I trade Perez for Shields

Too flyball prone and has been really lucky the last 2 years, look at his BABIP numbers

I don't really want hellickson, but I'd take shields. Dude pitches well at rbia and would provide an excellent addition to the rotation without breaking the bank.

Rays will try and squeeze every bit of value out of Shields and the cost prospect wise will probably not be worth it

Possibly, but IMO Texas would be foolish to not at least inquire. I have a feeling it might take less than you think. Shields is only getting more expensive and Tampa seems intent on keeping price through his arbitration years so shields may be a luxury they can't afford with so much good young pitching. They need a cheap answer at 1b with power (moreland) and it might not even take Perez but some other prospects instead.

Everything I've read concerning the Rays and Shields is that due to his friendly contract that there's no incentive for the Rays to feel compelled to move him
