Didn't think you were crazy about Shields

I like price better but we need to strengthen our rotation with someone to pair with Yu who has the ability to pitch like an ace and pitches well in big games. Shields pitches well in rbia. Obviously I'd rather have price or Greinke, but shields would fit the bill.

okay that makes sense. i'm the same, i would prefer Price or Greinke or both but if we can't accomplish that then Shields would be good

Ok with the fire sale going on Stanton has tweeted his displeasure as I'm sure he doesn't want to play for a gutted rebuilding team. JD get on the phone with Miami now and start putting together a hefty package to dangle for Stanton.

Olt, Cruz, Martin (Leonys), and a mid-top tier pitching prospect. IMO

Would give them 3 CHEAP controllable pieces for the foreseeable future, and an expiring contract in Cruz after next season. (as well as being Stanton's replacement for next season).

Might be too little...might be too much. Who knows.

I laughed @ the fire sale though. Dont think they've kept anyone they signed from last season.

This could be taken a couple of ways... 1 - that he wont be retiring an Angel. 2 - that he will not be signing with Texas.

Agree ... J.P. produced the same WAR as Napoli in his 2012 off season ... but we probably ought to realize Arencibia is probably not going to produce much more than he did in 2012...

... although that's far more than "player whose name shall never be mentioned again" who occupied that spot at the beginning of 2012 on the TEX roster.

Just realized Arencibia was drafted in the first round in 2007 out of Tennessee. Who else do we know who was drafted in the first round in 2007 out of Tennessee?

Yes and arencibia is a good defensive catcher as well.

good is stretching it, but he's certainly competent,

low average, no walks and good power... so kinda like Napoli with better defense but worse plate discipline
