I think you would have to start with 5 years 120M just to be in the bidding

I know this. I wouldn't go over $25m AAV for him. Will be interesting to see who the real players are when his market takes shape. Haven't heard what he's looking for yet.

5 years the tops I'd go on length, and anywhere between 20-25 AAV, depending on how the bidding goes, start at 20 and work your way up if need be

Braves Turned Down Simmons-For-Olt Trade: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Reportedly the rangers offered Olt up to Atlanta for Simmons to flip him to Arizona for Upton. This tells me two things. One, that Texas already offered Olt to Arizona for Upton and they declined for the time being. Two, Atlanta isn't trading Simmons either, or at least they've stated as such and the young ss market isn't very good for Arizona. My guess is Texas continues to dangle Olt out there for Arizona and let time get them to come around.

We think Olt will be a legit ML player, but many prospects have fallen short. Justin Smoak being exhibit A. With Beltre having 3b blocked for the foreseeable future I can accept an Olt for Upton trade. Maybe Upton and a solid reliever. My guess is they want to see what else they can get for Upton and will circle back to Olt.

Torii is an interesting case. He's a great clubhouse guy that had a very good season in the angels oppressive park last season. I have to think he'd do fine at rbia. He's a solid contact hitter with good plate discipline who would be a great choice to hit in the two hole behind Andrus. He also still plays pretty good defense at a corner OF position and has a little speed still. At his age though you never know when he'll drop off a cliff.

Would prefer Hunter on a 2-year deal playing a COF spot over the contract burden and manpower cost of Upton.

Was kind of thinking the same thing. Then sign LaRoche for power and a lefty bat in the three hole.

that would be acceptable as long as we make a move to bring in a starter or 2 to support Yu and Matt

Good. I really didn't want Johnson and its nice to see them get bit for all their stupid management. I wonder if Stanton could be had.
