I don't think it's worth it to give up 31 and 34 to go to 8. It seems like we would do better to give up less, to move to 13, get Richardson, then draft a safety at 34.

If we trade up to 8 I would want either Austin or Ansah.

31 and 34 to move to 8 is a complete steal so moving to 13 wouldn't likely be any cheaper in terms of compensation.

I had heard they would not have to give up those two picks to move to 13 and I guess I would prefer they keep 34 and draft a safety under those circumstances.

According to the old NFL trade value chart, yes you're right. It's impossible to say what is a steal or not until after the draft. If we get Richardson at 8 and missed out on two other guys we were really high on or needed, then it doesn't look so great IMO. Then again it's equally impossible to judge draft winners or losers until the players actually hit the field.

Lol. Since when do the 49ers let people know who they really want?? I don't think I believe that is who they are in love with and trying to get. Guess we will see though.

That would be frustrating. If it's a big ugly they want, I really, really want it to be Hankins! Richardson's head and make-up concerns me, especially if they trade up for him. Baalke, Baalke, Baalke.

they could be floating out these rumors about trading for the jets or bills picks in order to force another team in the teens to commit to trading for our 1st rounder + our late 2nd or mid-3rd (rather than the 34th pick). at this point, you can't trust anything...usually most of it is smoke screen...if not, then the niners have a problem with leaking info considering it looked like last year they really did want someone else (Bruce Irvin? Mccloughan still have a rat in the Niners FO?) and not jenkins.

If it was a choice between moving up and having to give up 31 and 34, or staying put, I would prefer they stay put. I think at those two spots they could get their choice of TE, dline, or safety to really help the team.

Hey Pozz, do you see Hankins being able to play the 5 technique? I know he was used in a variety of ways in college, but at the next level I see him mainly at the NT - a very good one too. I only ask because it appears that Baalke doesn't value NT that much considering how sparingly they are used these days - it seems like Baalke prefers to develop late round guys for the NT spot and not pay much for the position. I think there is also a chance he falls to the late 2nd...I've even seen him going in the 3rd in some mocks although I highly doubt that scenario.
Anyways, just wanted to see where you project him in our D

I believe he could play all along the line for the 49ers. I want him predominately at the nose but he has enough get off and he moves so well that I think you could kick him outside for stretches and he'd hold up physically as long as his weight is in check.

I've wrestled around in my head if this structure with Baalke, Harbaugh, Fangio and Tomsula are collectively united on not spending big dollars or high picks on a nose tackle or if so far they've decided to go that way just because they haven't liked their options there and they were able to get away with it for the most part. If it's more towards the former where they prefer not to sink too much into a nose tackle, then fine, but it's something I've wrestled around in my head and hasn't prevented me from getting excited about a Hankins, a Kawann Short, or a Jesse Williams.

I'd be surprised if Hankins fell to the 3rd. He shouldn't. I'd be screamin' for him in the 2nd if he fell that far. Thing is, I'm probably going to be screaming for a lot of guys if they hold onto the 34th pick but Hankins would be at or near the top of that list (Lacy, Hankins being the other two).

I would start a H_A_N_K_I_N_S!!! thread, but that would ensure that he won't be a 49er if my W_I_L_F_O_R_K!!! thread was any indication back in '04. :(
