Move to 8 for a player available around 15?

Does anyone have an idea of what Draft Value Charts are being used League wide? Is the traditional still the standard bearer or are teams employing the new ones?

There has been rumor circulating of a "newer" one that has replaced the "outdated" one. This has apparantly been used since the rookie cap has been in place.

I'm not so sure. The last two drafts Baalke surprised EVERYONE. The Richardson speculation is too public for the tight lipped front office.

The more I look into Richardson the more I can see him being the type of player Baalke loves so it does make sense.

Freak athlete with a high motor is a Baalke MO

I think they wanted to go to 13, but with that getting out, they wanted to make sure they got to a high enough point where any of the top 3 DL would fit and be avail. Richardson, Star, Floyd.. no chance they are all gone at 8.

This makes more sense to me but if Richardson is the only one on the board at 8 I think they could trade down a few picks and still get him. I think the Jets would trade up to 8 for Austin. Depending who's on the Board, The Dolphins too.

I tend to think this as well since this is way too public and letting it be this know only works against them.

It could very well be a case that everyone knows we want to move up so teams are using us as leverage and we're the big bad bogey man that's going to come in and take your player so you better trade up!

I know we have more important needs but, man, if we move to 8 I really want Tavon Austin. I'm not sure its rational but I'd love to have him.

Could this be a ploy to take attention off of someone else? How often does Baalke let his plans reach the public?

For that reason I believe it is more active imagination and speculation by those reporting it. It isn't just Baalke, every NFL GM keeps their draft day strategies a complete secret.

Except for Jerry Jones being a dummy, they don't even release draft boards after the fact because that gives other teams a lot of insight into how you evaluate talent. Plus it also opens the GM to a lot of criticism, I think Jones started being seen as a senile idiot after everyone saw the mistakes of the Cowboys board that year.

there are quite a few players that could be targeted at 8

To put it in perspective the Falcons Browns trade for Julio Jones was:

Falcons get:
2011 6th overall pick (1st)

Browns get:
2011 27th overall pick (1st)
2011 59th overall pick (2nd)
2011 124th overall pick (4th)
2012 1st round pick (which ended up being 22nd overall)
2012 4th round pick (which ended up being 118th overall)

Ugh...31 and 34 for 8? If the Bills stand pat they'll probably take Nassib from what I heard, which I can't see them really wanting to. If that really is the case I could see them desperate to move down, but then again someone else might be more desperate to move up.
