Odell Beckham is coming up roses today. Good measurements for him all around.
So is Jordan Matthews.
Mike Evans is looking like an absolute monster, but everyone knew that. Speed #'s will be the key for him.
More bad news for Marqise Lee. I'm getting ready to jump ship.
Jarvis Landry's not making any money today either.
Brandin Cooks could've made some money w/ a good arm measurement, but he has tiny arms. Tiny everything really.
Solid day for my guy Donte Moncrief. Everything checks out. Height, weight & arm length. Only hand size left to be desired.

Crap.

My guy Brandon Thomas 6'3 317 34 4/4' arms and 35 reps on the bench w/ those long arms. He's going to get noticed. :(

At least Marcus Martin had a reasonable day w/ 23 reps.

Antonio Richardson (also my guy) had 36 reps w/ 35'' arms. Yikes!

BTW, my top 4 WRs coming into the combine:

Watkins
Matthews
Lee
Beckham

after that it gets blurry. Really deep WR class, though.

What are your thoughts on Brandin Cooks as compared to Marqise Lee? He's about 1 & a half inches shorter & 3 pounds lighter than Lee. Both are burners, but Cooks set the Oregon state record in the 60 meter dash at 6.81 (I don't know if it meant the Oregon STATE record or the OSU record). And Cooks was far more productive this year (although Lee was hurting).

And Cooks is 23 months younger. What say you?

Marquise Lee has more red flags than the country of China. I definitely wouldn't mind you guys drafting him in rd 1

I wonder if Lee suffers a fall similar (though not as dramatic) as Keenan Allen? He should run much better than Allen did, but I couldn't believe Allen was there in the third - and at the time it made me somewhat irritated that we traded up for Reid and lost our highest third rounder.

I've read people say that Lamarcus Joyner has really long arms for a short guy. I don't know where they would have learned this, but people are saying as much. Arm length for a DB is even more important than height IMO. Even moreso than for a WR because the WR usually has to get his whole body into position, whereas a DB only has to get a hand in there to make a play.

All signs are pointing to one direction the Niners should go in this draft IMO: DOWN.

Trade down! Trade the 30th pick for a late 2nd rounder & a 1st rounder next year. It must be done! There's too much talent in the 2nd round not to do this.

Yeah Allen fell way too far in the draft. But I'm still glad the Niners didn't draft him because they didn't trade Crabtree. Allen is the same WR as Crabtree IMO, and he's similar to Boldin. Too much of the same. The Niners need a guy who can stretch the field better IMO.

I've been thinking about Lee, and as much as I like him I'm not sure he will be a good fit for the 49ers...

I've watched Lee for the last three season's, and the main concern I have about him above all other things is his ability to catch the football. He has average hands at best, and I've seen him drop a lot of balls over his career at SC. Kap is not always the most accurate QB, but the way he tends to rifle in the ball to his receivers, I'm not sure Lee will be able to handle Kaepernick's passes...

I still like Lee, I'm just not sure he will mesh well with Kap...

Right, Moncrief offers deep ball separation that I don't see us getting from Matthews.

He makes up for his top end speed by shielding defenders away and catching the ball at its highest point. He caught a deep ball during the Senior Bowl game which was a spectacular grab. He was tearing it up in the positional drills as wheel during the SB practices. Moncrief is not the better of the two IMO.

Sherman is gonna eat a guy like that for breakfast lunch and dinner. I'm not discounting Matthews as a player I just find him way too similar to what we already have at WR. I want a guy that brings the extra gear to the table and still has the size. Moncrief as the focal point and with a better QB in college would be getting slobbed on by fans.

Ok I can see you agreeing that Matthews' game speed is better, but you agree it's not even close? The difference is that clear to you?

Yeah. He's a student of the game. He does the little thing that coaches wish all 11 of their starters posses. He's so coachable - receptive towards learning even during his off days. Unlike Moncrief, he's not an athletic stud playing receiver, instead he's a kid who was groomed ever since he was a kid to become a receiver just like his cousin Jerry Rice. I hate posting highlights by the eye in the sky does not lie. He's vey productive for a reason.
