Per Kurz the Sharks are close to finalizing a deal with Kennedy and are interested in bringing Hannan back.

:thumb: I like the sound of that :clap:

e3 Sharks are working on a deal with Gomez too.

Iginla sure would look nice in a Sharks uni, just saying!

:usa: Happy 4th of July:usa:

Gomez probably wants too much money so I'd pass on him.

Hannan is fine but he's really just a 7th defeseman -- but we all know he'll get top 4 minutes.. Oh well. :L

It's going to be an interesting day tomorrow but I hope/don't expect Dougie to do much, or anything.

I don't expect them to do anything at all. Honestly I'll consider it a successful day if they go without signing a fourth liner for four years @ $1.8m...

:tb:........happy UFA Day!

Looks like Dallas wants to make a strong push this next season, :noidea:

:think:....so I guess any kind of move from Doug will be shocking!

Yeah, and also confirmed to have interested was Boston... and a lot of other teams.

It's nonsense, really. Just the agent trying to drive up the price. Everyone knows he's going to play in Ottawa for another year or two.

Or not. Since he just signed with Detroit.

some crazy money deals flying around right now... clowe for 5 years nearly 5M per? he's already basically 31 and injury riddled. Also, ribeiro at 5.5M per but already at age 33. Some of these deals will surely be damaging after a year or two.

The kennedy deal is OK I suppose, but i still dont see him as a major upgrade (1M per year and a 2nd rounder) over galiardi. 2 years is a pretty short term deal and hell be a UFA after it, so dougie really gave up a lot for this. Hannan back is fine, but I suppose dougie is done:

At the end of the day we have exactly the same team as the one that started last year except:

Clowe--> torres
Galiardi --> kennedy
Murray--> hannan

With boyle now 37, jumbo and patty 34, Stuart 33, and havlat injured for the foreseeable future. I find it hard to see how this year's team is gunna outperform last year to any significant degree. Only if hertl is an allstar I suppose but if they suffer any major injuries to any of boyle, stuart, jumbo or patty or if torres gets suspended again or kennedy injured again, then they will be toast.

For the sharks to exceed last year, they really need the stars to align. I guess you gotta tip your hat to dougie for bringing back a chemistry that he liked, but its rough that he chose not to upgrade the team in any real way. So, now the question is will pavs and boyle get extensions?

All my arrows go the opposite direction in those comparisons Rules. Except Murray and Hannan that is pretty much an even trade off.

Per Kurz - Alex Stalock has re-signed.

Same here. Clowe did zero for the Sharks last year, and TJ is not a loss at all. Would much rather have Torres and Kennedy.
Also add in Hertl w a good chance to make the team.

Keith Ballard might have been a good wth signing. He has some puck moving ability from the LD spot. Went to MIN 2 years at $1.5 per. I know he was sucking for VAN though, but not sure how much of that criticism was due to his high cap hit versus low production.
