:D

Actually Ray, I wouldn't be that happy man. I like Criner, but in the first round it would be like meh... average/solid pick but not much of a "Wow-I-got-myself-a-steal-pick". I mean I would be content with it but I wouldn't be in an euphoric state at all. If this were the 2nd round, i would do ten backflips. HOWEVER, Jenkins in the first would make me extremely happy; I would do backflips for him. And then Criner in the 2nd would be the icing on the cake which would potentially allow me to forgive Kyle Williams for his mistakes.....NOT!

Anyway, I have a feeling one of these two west-coast guys will be a 9er: Criner and Marvin Jones.

Criner over Upshaw?

Also Doug Martin in the first? People are coming on. FML.

That entire mock is phucked up Clyde. Upshaw is not going to last that long anyway. Btw, I'm not even a big fan of Upshaw. In this case though I would select him ahead of Criner. The Criner pick looks like a force pick IMO. I would be content with it, but it would still be regarded as a "force pick".

Honestly I don't think 1 running back deserves to go in the first round. Yes even Trent. He's going to be an average back in the league good overall #s - comparable to Cedric Benson's 2010 year. But will never be regarded as an elite NFL rb IMO. The only teams that should be drafting a rb in the first round is Cinci (only because they have the luxury - 2 first round picks and it's a need for them); Giants and Packers for obvious reasons. Everyone else would be wise to wait until the 2nd round or later to acquire their rbs. The 2012 rb class is ok at best - it doesn't excite me at all, but I really like Lamar Miller.

I agree that Goldson is overrated. A lot of his INTs - the majority as memory serves - came on deflected balls. I can only recall two where he made a good play on a pass for the pick. He is great at adjusting to a deflected ball, but I think his coverage skills are very ordinary. Before we signed Whitner, I was pushing to move Goldson to SS and try R. Smith or someone else at FS. That's unlikely to happen now, but I definitely don't think we should break the bank for Goldson at this point. While I think we have bigger needs, I wouldn't object to using a first or second round pick on a FS if the value is there. Maybe we franchise Goldson for a year to allow for transition, but I'd like a more adept coverage guy at that spot.

I think Goerge Iloka in the 2nd would be a wise choice. Besides his solid career at Boise St., he impressed at the Senior Bowl. 6'3 220 lb fs that played some cb in a pinch.

Absolutely. That would make four of our five OL first round picks. Another one next year and we're good.

LOL

On the other hand though, if we do go that route, I would just want us to draft a guard in the 2nd to be finished with the line. For the next few seasons I wouldn't want to hear anything about the line, regardless of who gives up however many sacks.

Mock Draft 3.0 | National Football Post

30. San Francisco 49ers: Rutgers WR Mohamed Sanu
The 49ers have a glairing need at the wide receiver position and could be looking to upgrade. Sanu is a monster with good quickness for his size and a real physical dimension to his game. He offers the ability to run after the catch and can contribute inside from day one.

Interesting that they have Hill going a couple of spots ahead.

Mel Kiper's Mock Draft

30. San Francisco 49ers - Rueben Randle, WR, LSU
Randle could be a steal. This is a guy who, in a more dynamic passing offense, could have been far more productive. Obviously, the combine will tell us a lot, but Randle could be preferred over Alshon Jeffery of South Carolina, because he has the length, but will be a lot quicker into and out of his breaks because he's got a leaner frame. He's better suited to beat opposing defenses over the top. The Niners need a big target in the passing game outside of Vernon Davis, and Randle could be that guy.

Interesting take, the reasoning behind Randle fills the need we need at WR. If Randle can be that guy, at 6-4(i will keep mentioning the ht with WRs cuz for me in this draft and in this time of need, i feel thats my dealbreaker)

Should Randle be a topic of discussion among SportsHoopla Niners faithful?

Adding fuel to the Rueben Randle fire:

Matt Barrows @mattbarrows

Mayock said LSU WR Rueben Randle is a good fit for the 49ers but might be gone if, as expected, he runs an impressive 40 in Indy ...

Haven't seen any LSU games except vs Bama in which case Randle sure didn't do anything but the O didn't do anything. Anyone have insight on the guy?

Someone said in the youtube comments that he looks like a Josh Morgan clone. Thought that was pretty funny and accurate style wise.
