Pippen got hurt in 1998 and was never the same player after. He was legitimately a top 5 player in his prime. By the time he left Chicago he was on the downside of his career.

Even that doesn't really work That team also had Clifford Ray and Bill Bridges who were very good players and Jamaal Wilkes who was a rookie, but who was good enough to win Rookie of the Year and 1st team All-Rookie.
