Because the refs are very reluctant to call pass interference at the end of the game so it is much easier to try to get it now.

because you have to make 2 at some point. It’s better to miss now and figure out you need 3 scores, instead of missing later and finding out your are screwed. Not to mention if you make the 1st two 2 pt attempts, you have the choice to tie or go for the win on the last one

You take the points and give yourself a shot, no matter how much of a long shot it is.

Now going for the 2 point conversion right there — I don’t agree with because if they miss, it’d have been a 3 possession game still. Luckily they got it.

But it is perception — getting it to a 2 possession game adds ‘some’ pressure to the other team.

I realize they need 2 point conversions, but if they would have missed it there, I think it would have been deflating to UM to still be down 3 scores.
