What's most surprising is I thought OSU would be immune to a game like that this year. I thought Urban was gonna be on a mission and OSU was gonna destroy all lesser opponents. Guess I was wrong.
OSU is polar opposite of years past. Their LB’ers are not good. Their safeties are not good. They had one of the top DL’s, but without Bosa, that isn’t the same. They rank near the bottom for most 30+ yard plays given up in CFB.
Offensively, they are one dimensional, which is fine until you get to the red zone and throwing the ball is much more difficult. Without Barrett, the R in RPO is non-existent as no one will key on Haskins. So it takes away one of the advantages OSU used in the past — the QB extending drives and now defenses don’t have to key on the QB so they have one more guy to chase the RBs.
Don’t get me wrong — OSU is a very good passing team. But if a team can limit the big plays and force them to go on long drives — it can bog the offense down.
This is definitely not a team ready to compete with the big boys this year. I couldn’t even fathom how many points Bama would put up on them after watching Minnesota and Purdue rack up yards.
