I didn't start following sports until 1987, and I didn't know until last night that 1981 was a short season. It was a weird format. Season was divided into 2 halves. Reds finished with a better overall record than the Dodgers in the NL West, but because the Dodgers had the best 1st half record, they advanced to the postseason to play the 2nd half NL West winner, Houston Astros, before going on to win the NLCS and WS.
Totally not a legit WS title, IMO. Dodgers have 1 legit WS title in the last 50 years. LOL.

I remember back in 2000-2001, I used to manage a place out near the ballpark (South Beach Billiards). Dusty used to come in once or twice a week after games and have a drink or two. Super classy, nice, humble man. We really didn't talk a lot of baseball, except he was fascinated by my grandpa being at the Shot Heard Round The World game. Just a cool dude who enjoyed his Crown Royal and spliff.

That said, I'm still pissed at him for Game 6. I think he'd understand.

Respectfully disagree, they’ve shown their pitchers or the handling of them don’t hold up in the playoffs after a long season. It’s a theme that’s been long running. A short season was just what the doctor ordered for them. Don’t get me wrong, if the Giants won last year I’d party too, but just sayin.
