This coach has gotta go! He can't get the potential out of these players who can do no wrong!

4 other coaches had the same problem. Its utterly embarrassing at this point. I've never been so disgusted with the Flyers team as i have been this year. Thank god we signed JVR and have him for another 4 years.

Yea at this point I agree, unless Fletcher goes all out in free agency to become a contender than we might as well go balls out and clean house, yes that includes Roo.
We have been through a couple of Gm's and 4 coaches working on 5 to be fired. At some point it has to be the players responsibility.

You to, was hoping for better hockey this year but probably gonna have to wait.
I thought we were going to put the bad play behind us and start the year off right with a New Years day victory yesterday but we all saw what happened.

10 things we learned from the Flyers final game of 2018

Number 1 has been a reoccurring theme and has been going on for waaaaaay too long.

So, who do you move to break this up?

1. Is Simmonds traded as a rental enough? (This seems like a foregone conclusion at this point to me)
2. Does trading Voracek in addition to Simmonds mix it up enough?
3. Do you look at adding Giroux and/or Couturier to the 'blow it up' plan?

1. Simmonds rental not enough, I would like to see us pair AMac with Simmonds. That may reduce the return obviously but i just want to clear that 5mil for next year.
2. I don't know, its hard to tell where the attitude from this team comes from. Hopefully Fletcher as a new outsider can identify it because it's got to be from either Voracek, Giroux, or both. I don't get the vibes that Simmonds isnt trying, more so that he may be toast because of last years injuries.
3. Giroux maybe but only for the reasons I talk about above and the return would need to be substantial. I feel like my answer is leaning towards NO on this, but it may be time to remove the C and let him just go back to playing good. Couturier...I really like him and have never seen him play this bad in a stretch of games. May have to do with his linemates or (and what i suspect) its just the usual Flyer way...let a guy play with an nagging injury at 60% for the entire year instead of letting the guy heal. That shows heart!

Personally, i'm against moving Giroux, but looking around at who could afford him and might be trying to win a cup this year.. what about Nashville? They've got cap space to add him. Would it be crazy to look at a Giroux + (Elliot or Neuvirth) for a package based around Tolvanen and Saaros? You get a goalie, and a guy that has a chance to be a high-end offensive threat to replace that part of Giroux's game at least.

I'm pretty against doing that with the Simmonds trade. It's one year more for AMac at 5M. They've already got a bunch of $$ for next year, unless they have a big plan for that 5M, I don't see the point. For Simmonds alone, I think you can get a 1st round pick +. Tying AMac to him eliminates some teams from having the room to add those guys and greatly waters down the return. Simmonds will get moved to a cup contender, not someone looking to absorb 5M in cap space.

That being said, it is a monster UFA class this year.

Bobrovsky (29), Stone (26), Karlsson (28), Eberle (28), Duchene (27), Pavelski (33), Panarin (26), Varlamov (30), Skinner (26), Stralman (31), C. Talbot (30), Gardiner (27), Lee (27) and more scheduled to hit free agency. Those are some big names that will be big $$ contracts.

They've only got $47M assigned for next year. They're projecting around $82M for the cap. Sanheim (~2M), Provorov (~7M), Konecny (~4M), Laughton (~2M) are probably the only guys you need to re-sign. That would leave you with $20M to spend still. You could add 2 guys from that class, maybe even 2 of the guys at the top of the list.

A surprising down season might not be the worst thing if it drags some of these re-singings down a bit. Thinking Provorov in particular.

Well...my thought is that we are in year 4-5 of the fake rebuild we are attempting. So its time to spend some money and 5 mil is quite a bit to help with hopefully a very busy offseason.

Anyone and everyone should be looked attrading to make this team better. If we can get a good price for Simmer and Voracek good riddance. if we can get a good price for Gee see ya. I dont want to trade just for the sake of trading i am looking to get pieces back to make our team respectable again at the very least. Right now we arent even at the respectable level and that is not what a fan wants to see.

I mean, the bold that's kind of what we're talking about. There aren't a lot of players out there that are better than Giroux, the 5-6 guys that are, aren't going to be traded. Voracek, statistically, also one of the better players at his position over the past few years.

Maybe you make it up by getting two B+ players for your A+ player, but historically that's not how it works. You trade 'now' players for 'future' players and hope that your future return outweighs what you gave up in the now.

I dont need a player back as good as Gee. Id like to get two 50 point players that play an all around game and add some size at the same time. if we cant get that keep Gee and look to trade Jake or Couts or simmer or anyone else that we can get back a good return to help make this team better. I think at this point everyone should be tired of the same old first round and out or miss the playoffs team.

If there is a God out there please let someone make an offer for JVR at the deadline any offer is good. 10th rounder no prob, a signed stick you got him, a roll of tape he's yours.
