Congratulations to Tannehill on taking his team to the AFC title game - meanwhile, the Dolphins QB only got the Dolphins the 5th pick in the draft.

Paolo, Tannehill didn't take the Titans to the AFC title game, it was all Henry and the Titan D

Josh Boyer to be promoted to DC as it is expected that Patrick Graham will be headed to the NYG for the same position.

I find it hard to blame Philbin given that he didnt have as much experience as a play caller coming in. Gase was supposed to be a QB guru

What are you talking about?? Philbin had 5 years as O coordinator for Packers, should be plenty of time to learn how to call plays. In fact, their O was top 10 for five straight years.

I think Rogers carried that offense. Philbum was simply a bad hire because of that.

What some people may not know, or forget -- especially if they have a hard time with facts that do their personal thoughts and feelings a disservice is that Philbin, was only the "OC" of the Packers in title.

McCarthy was the full-time play-caller for the team. There was even a feature on ESPN shortly after Philbin took the job where it was mentioned his duties were simply to assist the HC in game-planning - and run practices on that side of the ball. We all know of many HCs who have coordinators in similar roles - it is not an indictment on any particular coach -- it is just the way things are structured for that team.

It was not to be for Ryan Tannehill as the Titans fall short of a SB appearance. The OL and running game did not show up. But, at least - he got his team further than the Dolphins Ryan got his.

Jim Caldwell, who took medical leave before the season, will not be returning with the Dolphins. He will seek other coaching options. Big loss for the coaching staff - but I think this was expected with Chan Gailey coming on - could've been philosophical differences.

That's exactly my point he wasn't prepared to step into a HC role he wasn't even calling plays. It simply was too much based on his experience. Bad hire as the results dictated.

Come back complete - Ryan Tannehill wins Comeback Player Of The Year. Maybe the Dolphins will bring him back to give themselves a veteran with something still left in the tank - especially so if they draft the wrong QB(Tua)

Ryan Tannehill played well in the Titans system. He is not the type of player that will carry a team. He relied on a good running game.

Rosen played his best ball when he was at UCLA with a spread offense. Perhaps we are all writing him off too soon. The new OC has ran that type of an offense. If the Fins don't get the QB that they want at pick 5 then maybe he should get another chance later in the season.

I think that no matter happens Rosen will be given an opportunity which is the way it should be. If he's beaten out so be it. Competition should always be there even at QB.

Here's a good article on the state of the depth chart and possible moves. Some good comments too. What do you guys think? Seems pretty close to what I was feeling.

Miami Dolphins 2020 depth chart and offseason needs - The Phinsider

That is a very insightful article. It reminded me of some players that we may see more of next year if/when the team runs the ball more such as FB Cox and TE Smythe as blockers. I also see HB as a high need. That said, the Fins have a lot of depth and talent at WR so the team may still decide to pass more often than they run. A run game would reduce pressure on the QB and lead to more first downs.

I agree with the priority list except I see DE as a higher need but if the team plays more 3-4 then I understand the logic of having a higher priority on Edge LB.

If the right QB is available with the first pick then that is the top priority in my opinion.

Howard's bad decisions off field have really caused more uncertainty at CB. When he's healthy and playing he's one of the best in the NFL. I thought the CB's were playing well as the season progressed. For example, the Pats really struggled getting open in the last game. If Howard were not in trouble and back to health CB would only be a medium need.

Priority Summary
Top: Offensive line
High: Quarterback
High: Linebackers (Edge)
High: Halfbacks
High: Cornerbacks
Medium: Defensive ends
Medium: Nose tackles
Low: Safeties*
Low: Tight end
Low: Wide receiver
None: Punter
None: Fullback
None: Long snapper
None: Kicker

Charges dropped against Xavien Howard

Also, the Dolphins have interest in Gurley. The interest may not be mutual, though .

Howard's charges are dropped but we still need to find out what if anything the NFL will do.

RE Gurley: he's not the same RB that he used to be in production or durability. The Fins could get a top RB from the draft.
