Might as well get this thread going now .

The Dolphins need to find their QB of the future . Skylar Thompson has shown some things but is not there yet . The QB of the future is not on this roster . Too bad this team made some horrible trades the last few seasons — and overall bad decisions to lead them to this situation where they aren’t in the most ideal position to draft a QB early on . Will have to find one through trade , FA or later in draft .

I actually believe Sky can be a good backup next season how far he goes is up to him. Most of it will be confidence. If he can keep the Fins within 3 points on the road against a top seed now there is hope. Either way doesn't hurt to find a 3rd guy as you can see you need 3 now a days. At first I was thinking someone like Jimmy G but I don't think they need to pay that much with Sky looking decent. I would draft or pick up a secondary backup like Cooper Rush who could come in and win a game. Bridgewater was not that guy he's beyond delicate. Couldn't even make it through a game.

Time for improvement plans.
O-line is still a mess and probably not going to change much.
D-backs will improve just recovering from injuries - but will they really?

Cutting Jones before June 1 would result in a dead cap charge of $14.8 million. Miami could wait to see if he's fully recovered in the summer and wants to play for Miami. If not, they could cut him after June 1 for a dead cap charge of only $4.75 million.

Miami needs vintage Howard back. In 2022, he had one regular-season interception. In the previous two seasons it was 15. Howard had a passer rating allowed of 101.2 this season after he was at 72.6 and 48.3 in the previous two seasons.
Pro Football Focus graded Howard as the 79th-best cornerback in the NFL. In the previous two seasons he was 24th and 2nd.

X was hurt all season but hung in there. Didn't help that everyone else around him was hurt and he was playing with CB's 2,3 and 4 out. He will be back with a vengeance. Byron hard to say he may not be healthy if not June 1st cut.

Oline will be fine can't get worse with healthy players and maybe a few additions.

Reasonable people wouldn’t be surprised by this . He is going to be in concussion protocol the rest of his career . He’s fragile .

Not that he deserved or earned it , but Terrible Tua will not be at the pro bowl . Even flag football is too dangerous for him . He is still in concussion protocol , which he will be in for his entire career because he’s too fragile

Yes a little surprised but not really as those injuries can be bad especially for CB's. I hope he recovers enough to enjoy life and his $'s. Most of us only get more pain with age!

Now if he officially calls it a career, how would that affect the cap space? I've never fully understood how all of that would work in a case where a player retires before the contract ends.

Depends on the contracy usually.
If signing bonus was prorated through life of the contract, the y will owe him tht signing bonus for every year.
If he retires, they will not owe him base pay or roster bonuses.....
