I literally said this in my first post and multiple posts after that. LMAO. Thank you for proving my point with video.

Yes, like I said... Seattle had the ball for FOUR total plays in the 4th quarter when within one score. Then, it was ABRUPTLY and IMMEDIATELY turned into a two TD game.

Cutting the lead to 7 and then IMMEDIATELY giving up a pick six to make it 24-10 again? You think THIS is what constitutes a competitive game? Lol

that was only the 3rd time I believe in his entire career he's done that

Yes. The Bears D is very good and they pressured/sacked Wilson a lot that night. Forced a lot of hurried throws.

accept that the game was in the balance late

Read my FUCKING words... YES... it was a tightly contested game in the 4th for 4 plays. This is ALLLLL that I have said. As a Bears fan, I was relaxed the entire game - worried for four plays that we might blow another game in which we dominated for the vast majority of the contest... and then immediately relaxed again in one blink of an eye as the D took it home.

You guys had zero chance at the end of that football game. You would have had to recover an onside kick and complete a hail mary inside of 14 seconds. lol. How is this hard to comprehend? The game did not go to the wire. This isn't debatable.

Do you honestly think Seattle deserved to win that game more than the Bears? My god, what a homer.

NO it was close game until 6 minutes left in the game, Seattle had the ball at mid field down 7 ... So in other words, Seattle could have tied the game late, so when you say the game wasn't close you make me fucking laugh.. And no I never said Seattle should a won the game, Bears made the play's to win, they won, I was just pointing out that the game was closer than you were saying, because it was ... I would LOVE to see the two teams play again though, because at that time Seattle had no identity and now they're running the ball better and overall playing better football...

Seattle does not have the talent to win it all. Making the playoffs is a stretch. I'm not saying it can't happen, but I highly doubt it.

I think we all agree Seattle never had the talent this season to win it all. WC is a good possibility with 4 home games left. If they don't make it, oh well. Load up on more talent next offseason.

Yes, I suggest you tap out.

It was in striking range for not even 30 seconds in the 4th quarter.

It was 24-10 until a touchdown with 14 seconds left. Until that final drive the Bears outgained Seattle by 100 yards, held them to 177 yards total, out possessed them by 10 minutes and had 20-12 in first downs.

Please, explain to me how that game could have gone either way. Explain to me how a game which ended with you all making it 24-17 with 14 seconds remaining could have gone either way.

Come on... I got to hear this. If you guys pull that game out at the end - it is ALL-TIME miracle material. lol... Totally either way

As poorly as Seattle played, Bears offense was just as bad. Stats are very close and the pick 6 with 6 mins left closed out the game. It was still 17-10 with 6 mins left, not really a dominating game.

So was the title of this thread

How did Seattle not fall off? - Implying there are those who said they did not and this thread is asking those people to prove as such.

Or

How did Seattle not fall off? - Implying most expected they would, yet results are showing otherwise. How did they accomplish such a feat?

I don't really care what the answer is, I just want to illustrate that the Seattle Seahawks, in what was meant to be our "retooling year" (losing 5 Pro-Bowlers) is currently in line to make the playoffs as a 5 seed.

I invite those of you who celebrated the downfall of the Seahawks to suck my whole ass.

They were supposed to have a bad season because of losing Sherman, Graham, and having no serious running game. How are they even in this at this point?

AZ and SF are struggling...that's 4 winnable games.

Thank Russell Wilson for the week 11 & 12 wins. Finally, so far they're beating most of the teams they are supposed to beat...with the exception of DEN, all of the games they have lost have been to teams in the playoff race.

SEA could very well go 3-1 to close it out and be a 10-6, 5 seed....assuming DAL is the 4 seed...that would be a good WC week matchup. Actually I think they are a good matchup in the 3 vs 6 game too if CHI stayed in that slot.

Seattle has fallen a bit - just not NEAR what everyone expected. I think I called Seattle a .500 team this year (and that was with a healthy Garappolo).

Reasoning:
  • Wilson can still keep them in games
  • I considered the OL improved with Fluker/Brown and Cable gone.
  • Jimmy Graham was never utilized properly anyway, so whatever.
  • Still had Bobby Wagner/ET (least we thought) and Seattle spent a lot of draft capital on secondary over the last few years, but everyone apparently forgot that and that Seattle has one of the best secondary HCs in NFL history.
  • McDougald played great last year and was on fire in preseason/TC.
To me the big issue was the DL, which has certainly been the key culprit to giving up points this year... but I think we all knew that. Not able to resign Richardson was a big blow.

ANYWAY, I saw tons of people predicting Seattle would be drafting top 5 with a 4-12 record and the 49ers would be some 10-6 WC team competing for the division. I'm not sure WHERE the fuck people were getting that... flip flop that even with Jimmy Garappolo and it's more realistic.

I was in that same ballpark, around .500, a gm +/- either way. I think with Jimmy G...you split with SF whereas I think you will sweep now.

As happy as I have been about the way the Hawks have competed this year, I don't expect a lot. Obviously, a 10-6 season and a 5 seed would be fantastic but they still have the Vikes and Chiefs coming up. Yes, they are at home but that advantage isn't what it once was and as bad as Cousins has been vs. winning teams in prime time, he came to Seattle last year with a beat up Skins team and won. Granted, Seattles kicking woes and lack of a running game had something to do with that but still, the Vikings have a really good D and they could pull this out. It could still be a 9-7 season but I like the Hawks chances if they continue to run the ball well. I really hope they can get into the dance and shake some things up but obviously, that's a stretch. All in all, a pretty good season and the future looking bright.

I mean sure... But Seattle going 4-12 and San Fran going 9+ wins competing for a wild card? It's pretty rare to see a QB hyped up THAT much especially when he's going to an absolute shit team. The OL in San Fran is OKAY but they have zero talent at RB/WR/TE (comparatively in the NFL anyway), and their back 7 leaves something to be desired. Was Richard Sherman supposed to save the World or something?

If that (4-12, 9+) was the wide spread narrative in Sept, I can agree with what you're saying.

I thought it was the Rams, and the Rams as far as the playoff contenders from the NFCW this yr. Thought SF would be better with Jimmy G, but not ready for JAN football.

But for real if you look at their schedule they have pretty much beaten who they are supposed to beat and lost who they were suppose to lose too. They didnt really have their shit together the first few weeks so they dropped games at Denver and at Chicago that were maybe winnable. Winning at Carolina looked like a big deal a couple of weeks ago but maybe now not so much.

Obviously firing Tom Cable and having a decent offensive line has helped fix the offensive issues. The defense still is pretty void of talent which good QBs can exploit.

But yeah in pretty much every game they've had a chance at the end including both games against the Rams. Still think the ceiling is 2nd round exit to LA or NO but the direction the offense has gone is exciting.

I mean the Rams were definitely favorites to win the division, but a TON of people (NFL Analysts, WalterFootball, friends of friends, people on the Hoop, etc.) were saying the 49ers were a wild card competitor and the Seahawks would be a 4-12 team.

I was like, "Look I get Wilson is not Manning, Brady, or Brees, but he's good enough that he's not going to let the team tank to 4-12."
