AP had a stellar day. GB use to be decent against the run but now they can’t even stop that. Fire everyone involved in the scouting department immediately. That is all.

Calm down. The Packers killed themselves against the Skins with critical dropped passes and penalties. Yes, Peterson had a good day against the Packers, but let's not pretend it's the first time he's shredded us. He dropped over 200 yards on us in both 2010 and 2011 - the years we won the Super Bowl and went 15-1.

The scouting department helped improve our defense by drafting a couple of keepers in Alexander and Jackson. Can't expect Rams-level production out of this group 3-games into a new regime.

The defense really misses Morgan Burnett. I expected better play from Brice, but he's not getting it done.

This is a great point. HHCD cant get it done either if we are being honest. We need Safety help and I dont think Jones is the answer either but Jones does make us much more athletic back there.

Trying to stay positive but it’s hard. So, to be fair, I read this lil tidbit in an article affectionately named: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Defensive adjustments: The Packers defense has been a pretty weird unit to start the season. Throughout three games, the team has been about as on/off as you can get, playing extremely well one half, and then abysmally the next. This was on display once again, as the defense was absolutely torched in the first half, giving up 28 points to Washington and looking every bit as lost as they have been for the last couple of years. From the third quarter on, however, the team looked like an unstoppable force, holding Alex Smith to just six passing yards and Washington to just three points. The Packers defense may not have put together a complete game just yet, but they’re showing flashes of just how it might look, and it’s a pretty good sight

To bad the adjustments were made after 28 points were already made but better late than never I guess.

Also read that Perry is in concussion protocol. When is this dude not hurt? Off season? Same goes for Bulaga...never healthy. This is starting to look like just much of the same we’ve been watching for years now.

This was also in the article:

THE UGLY
  • Outdated offense: Not only did the Packers look sluggish on offense, but their play calling also looked outdated and totally uninspired. Instead of a rewritten offense that many of the Packers coaches had teased all offseason, things looked pretty similar to the last few years. Many offenses around the league are beginning to update and adapt to a more modern style of play, and for one reason or another, the Packers seem stuck. The team still seems to rely on long developing plays that hinge on receivers either getting free of isolation coverage or Rodgers making miracles happen, and it’s honestly baffling as to why the offense continues to run like this. Just two weeks ago, the Packers came out in the second half against Chicago with a high tempo offense filled with shorter route concepts that worked wonders and helped win them a game, and yet instead of trying to expand on that, Green Bay continues to operate their early offense as if they can just waste a couple of drives.
This backs up what I’ve been saying for a few years now. MM has just become way to predictable. The only reason they’re successful is because of #12.

One thing I don't agree with is references to outdated/modern style of play. Smart coaches mold their offense and playbook around his team's strengths and I believe McCarthy has done that for the most part. Rodgers is a mobile pocket passer, so he calls plays that allows his mobile pocket passer to read defenses, feel the rush, move around and find the open receiver at any level of the field. The real problem is... McCarthy thinks his offensive line is better than it is, because you can't call slow-developing plays for any QB when your offensive line can't block anyone.

The Packers came back on the Bears because McCarthy called quick-hitting plays in an up-tempo offense to prevent the defensive pass rush from getting to his injured QB and it worked. The thing about doing that is... if you're taking 15 seconds per play and go 3 & out you tire your own defense out too. You can't do that all game long in the NFL. ...Chip Kelly found that out the hard way.

I'm a firm believer in running a lot of quick-hitting passing plays in the first quarter of games... screens, short ins, short outs, slants, 7-yard hitches... Get the defense moving laterally and backwards early. McCarthy hasn't done that nearly as much as he should - particularly with an injured QB and a bad OL against a jacked-up defense.

And it isn't all on McCarthy either. Rodgers passes up a lot of open short receivers to allow a deeper route to open. Sometimes we get a bigger chunk of yards and sometimes he takes a sack because of it.

Davon House to IR, welcome Bashaud Breeland. Hopefully you play better than House did

I would like to think it shouldn’t be hard for Breeland to be an upgrade from House but you never know. I guess we will see Sunday.

I really like Breeland during the FA period but then he went and did something stupid and got himself hurt. He was going to be making 8 mill per season so this should be interesting.

He got a cut on his foot on a vacation and an infection set in. It caused a failed physical after agreeing to a deal with Carolina.

A cut on his foot? That’s it? Wow, if he is solid in coverage and can tackle, the Packers got away with a steal in FA. Now they need to find a playmaker LB and a Reggie White incarnate defensive lineman and they would be set. :D

I guess I was wrong about MM. players didn’t execute against the skins:

Don't blame Mike McCarthy: Players didn't execute in Washington

By GENARO C. ARMAS AP Sports Writer

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) A ride on a golf cart during an offseason trip to the Dominican Republic changed the course of Bashaud Breeland's NFL career.

The cornerback's left foot was hanging out of the cart during that March trip when it was bumped by another cart that clipped Breeland's foot. An old wound that Breeland suffered in fourth grade reopened.

A couple weeks later, an agreement that Breeland had struck in free agency with the Carolina Panthers fell through. A longer-than-expected waiting game began.

Finally, Breeland is back in the NFL with the Packers.

After his first practice with Green Bay on Wednesday, Breeland said he was surprised it took him six months to finally hook on with a team.

"Being one of the first defensive backs taken off the board early in free agency to not even having a team to play for, yeah I had those thoughts," Breeland said. "But I don't regret it."

It was certainly fortuitous for the Packers, who signed Breeland after placing veteran Davon House on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

A fifth-year player out of Clemson, Breeland played 60 games with 57 starts in four years with the Washington Redskins. The 5-foot-11 Breeland had 267 tackles and eight interceptions while with the Redskins. He had a career-high 19 pass deflections last season.

The Packers feel fortunate to have picked up an experienced veteran four weeks into the season.

"I'm always interested in the ball skills of the defensive backs. He definitely has that," coach Mike McCarthy said. "So, experienced player and I think he's an excellent addition, especially at this point in the season."

Veteran Tramon Williams and second-year player Kevin King are the starters, though King missed last week's loss to the Redskins with a groin injury. King also missed practice on Wednesday.

Promising rookies Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson are the primary backups. House, who played mainly on special teams, is in the second year of his second stint in Green Bay, having initially been drafted by the Packers in 2011.

Breeland had workouts with other teams. But on Sunday, he didn't watch his old team, the Redskins, beat what turned out to be his next team, the Packers.

"I kind of distanced myself from football at the time, you know what I mean? It's kind of hard," Breeland said.

But the Packers called two days ago, and Breeland said that "they answered that prayer for me." He said he felt he was back at 100 percent about a couple months ago, and the Packers are apparently satisfied that's the case, too.

He said his initial injury traces back to when he his foot apparently caught on the spokes of a bicycle when he was in the fourth grade. That injury required a skin graft. Breeland said he was told by doctors that the foot got infected after getting bumped by the cart while in the Dominican Republic.

While the Packers also showed interest in Breeland in free agency, Carolina made the biggest push.

"But I'm here now. Everything happens for a reason," Breeland said. "I don't really regret what happened. I feel like it was meant to bring me here."

The defense finally put forth a top notch effort yesterday. After 4 weeks they are just outside the top 10 in points and rushing ypg and in the top 10 for overall yards and passing yards. Adjustments still need to be made but I think they are still better than the Capers coached teams we've seen

Maybe. Before I get excited I will wait and see if they can carry over this momentum against Detroit and beyond.

The Packers’ defense is now fourth in total defense (313.8 yards per game) and second against the pass (208.8 ypg). With so many young players and a new DC, I expect we'll see more improvement in the D going forward.

scoring defense, specifically red zone defense is my biggest concern. Defense was put in multiple bad spots by special teams and offense last week but gave up TDs every time. Cant do that
