Again, since you're still stuck on stupid, those stats are meaningless when comparing a fat bloated decent baseball OF that played against a majority of hacks to the much more skillfull, athletic and bigger MLB of today.

Besides, Ruth had a few good early years in regards to defense.....several other OF in the modern era were and/or strong in both hitting, power and defense. Sorry, but that's a fact and not even close to being proven wrong.
Sure, but that gap is easily made up and then some by Ruth's offensive dominance

This is besides the point, but Bernie Williams was awful defensively. Ruth, who was actually pretty good, crushes him in TZ

Can you tell me how they're meaningless? Are you saying they don't adjust for different years, leagues, and parks? And are you saying that the FIP being lower in the '20s is indicative of (at least) a combination of better pitchers and maybe inferior batters? And while you're at it, explain the statistics to me so I understand your comprehension. Explain FIP, wRC+, wOBA, and OPS+ to me. I don't need a formula, just a general rundown of what and how they measure. For example, batting average looks to see how many hits a player gets in PA's where he either gets a hit, gets out or forces an out, or reaches on an error. That's being vague to the point of bastardization, but it gets across the general point.

I know that if you do respond, you'll just look them up, but I bet you'll fuck up their meaning and usage even after reading about them

You literally didn't do anything I asked, because you're wrong

I don't need to explain them....I know what they are and so do you. quit being a little twat.....it's ok to be wrong, just own it.
Why can't you explain them? Just give two sentences for each. What's so hard about that, since you apparently, do indeed know what they are?

against shittier pitchers.....brilliant.
I literally gave the FIP averages for the two different time periods. Do you care to retort with your own quantitative data?

The ERA/FIP in Bernie Williams' best offensive season by wRC+ (1998) was 4.43/4.43. The ERA/FIP in Ruth's best offensive season (1921) was 4.03/4.00.

Can you respond to this please?

I wonder if Dusty Baker is going to have any influence on Harper's hitting approach...Dusty is well known for being disdainful of hitters who take a lot of walks and had some issues with Joey Votto in particular. He loved to say that Willie Mays and Hank Aaron didn't go up there to walk, and they are obvious examples of guys who were tremendous hitters despite not having huge walk totals...not that I find anything wrong with Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle (even Bonds before the roids).
It's way too early to make a big deal about it, but Bryce is walking less often than last season (1 walk per 7.4 PAs compared to 1 per 5.3) and his OBP is 55 points lower, although he is hitting for tremendous power (slugging over 200 points higher) and also striking out less often.
IDK, probably silly to say anything after 18 games and you'd guess that Dusty wouldn't be suggesting that the reigning NL MVP change things drastically, but Baker has been vocal about such matters in the past.

Meh. He keeps hitting like this and his walks will come. He's got two already tonight.

Yeah, it's weird, teams have been pitching to him so far. Watching all the games, he appears to be just as selective as he was last season, they're just challenging him a bit more so far. I think that'll correct itself in the not-too-distant future.

I am starting to warm up to the looks of prime age Jeannie as I get older.
When I was young and watching way too many reruns on TV, I thought she was kind of OK and lusted after Elizabeth Montgomery (Sam on Bewitched) and Mary Ann instead.

It would have been a hell of a 4-way!

Homina homina homina...
Speaking of that, Alice Kramden was a total babe despite the horribly drab clothes she had to wear (and being in black & white).

I was always a fan of Barbara Eden over Elizabeth Montgomery.
