No More "Bullpen Failure" - maybe
Ryan Cordell is now 5 for 7 this spring with 2 doubles.
This time Rua and Profar have hard hits that get through for base hits. Rua is 1 for 2 with a walk. Both Rua's out and his hit were well hit.
Guzman gets picked off as the Rangers keep making way too many outs on the bases.
I think it is a testament to how incredibly deep we are in the organization now.Rangers appear to be trying to win the WS of ST. I know these games are just to get ramped up for the season and get work in, but they seem to be playing damn good baseball. Aside from the outs on the base paths
I think it is a testament to how incredibly deep we are in the organization now.
Unless I could find a better option for the reserve role I would rather have him on the big league club. That is what the team needs the most this year I think. I don't think his trade value is ever going to be that great anyway since I think he is destined to be a utility player. To me he is completely different than a guy like Profar.
Besides, I think an intelligent GM for another team is not going to devalue him very much for playing on a ML bench versus starting everyday in the minors. For instance, if Profar was on a different team and if we needed to trade for him I would give up just as much to get him if he is playing everyday in AAA or on the bench for the ML club.
We certainly know what Rosales is. I would hope for a better alternative than Rosales who changes teams quite often because he is not that good.
I tend to agree. Sometimes the guys who pitch to contact keep the fielders engaged more and go deeper into games if they can keep the walks down.
He did acknowledge earlier this spring that he would like to strike out a few more. Maybe that comes with more experience.
Here is the difference in how Gerry Fraley views younger players and their performances and how others view them.
Based on Fraley's history I think he is usually pessimistic when it comes to younger players. I have seen it over and over again down through the years. The truth is somewhere in between, neither person is wrong in their assessment... I get the pessimism in his performance from Fraley, he had good results but it doesn't mean he pitched well or even solid (IDK bc I didn't get to see it) but based on Chi Chi's performance to date... a lot of luck might have been involved
For me, it depended on Ciriaco's ability to play SS, but now that I've been able to look his play there is pretty un-inspiring... I'd prefer Albert and his ability to play SS
Profar is too good and needs to develop
Alberto is probably destined for a UTIL role but I wouldn't want to put him there... YET
However he's the best option we have now that makes sense as a bench player
I think given the 2 options of Profar or Alberto as bench/UTIL guys for this year's club, I would say Profar needs to play everyday for awhile after missing almost 2 years of baseball. I want to see what he can do playing everyday until we have that role for him at the ML level. Hanser, if there wasn't a better option as UTIL player would fill the role but not ideal for a young guy w potential. I say there should be a vet journeyman type that could be had on the cheap to play a few days per month. Should be interesting to see what happens
