The truth is somewhere in between, neither person is wrong in their assessment... I get the pessimism in his performance from Fraley, he had good results but it doesn't mean he pitched well or even solid (IDK bc I didn't get to see it) but based on Chi Chi's performance to date... a lot of luck might have been involved

And as we all know throwing barely more strikes than balls once facing the teams best players seldom produces good results as well as the ability to pitch deep into games.

I see Freeman walked 3 in 1 inning. He needs to stop with that nonsense. He has some good movement but his control makes a person nervous when he comes into the game.

Did not see the game but one of the things Chi Chi was looking to develop was an out pitch. You rarely go deep in games without one

I asked Fraley what Chi Chi was working on, but of course I didn't get a reply. I know I have heard a lot of veteran's poor or mediocre performances explained away by saying they were working on certain things.

I will never forget the time I tried to get Fraley to admit that Holland had had a better season than Colby. Derek's ERA was significantly better than Colby's was that season. Fraley said Colby had the better season because he had pitched more innings. That was simply his way of not having to say that a young pitcher had had a better season than a veteran pitcher. I believe Colby threw something like two thirds of an inning more than Derek did that season. That is when I learned the extent of Fraley's bias.
