Duffman, part of what makes these boards interesting and worthwhile is the difference of opinions, so in speaking for myself, I am glad to post the things you do ..

We are not going to agree on everything, and IMHO, there are some valid points you make ...

Personally, I agree with you in that it is embarrassing to get blown out in a SB or Championship game .. I wish the SB vs the Hawks never happened, as it turned out to be a sad way for Champ to end his career, and for Knowshon to go out a Bronco ..

Sometimes it is better to get dumped after the second date as opposed to getting stood up at the altar ..

With that said, the 97-98 Broncos looked awful in that game in Miami, a week after the Giants beat them to end the perfect season ....

Not everyone is against you hell these guys are enjoying a win ..Lucas is right .. also you really belive you would get away with trashing a tam that just moved one step from winning the SB.. The Ravens was just like this team and they won it all so yes it is possible .. Hell we got a way better QB then they had !

Well, there are a few things to address in this thread, so first things first.

Thanks to all the Steelers fans for being classy good fans. I thought with all of the injuries that the Steelers had that the Broncos would have a little easier time in this game. I should have known better. The Steelers are better than I thought, are well-coached, have some serious depth, and showed a lot of heart. I'm glad we don't have to play you all again. And I hope we do exactly what many of you want to see: beat the Patriots and win it all.

As for the game, I didn't like how we came out unaggressive on defense. That put us in a hole, as the Steelers recievers found soft spots in the zone that resulted in some big plays for them. Our run defense, however, was nails. Our pass rush didn't show much until late in the game. We'll need to get more pressure on Brady than we did on Ben today for sure. Offensively, we were too predictable. On some of those run plays, we need to run play-action pass. There were too many times that I knew what we were going to run, and it looked like the Steelers did too. And I know that Belichick and the Patriot defense will be able to predict too many of our plays if we don't get a little more creative on the play-calling. That's an advantage that we don't need to give them. Oh, and one more thing on the negative side. The drops - holy crap! I hope we got those out of our system today.

Once again, we showed heart and determination. This team is truly battle-tested. Imagine what we could do if we put a full game together. This team, with all its short-comings, could be scary good. The defense, in holding the prolific Steeler offense to 16 points, was awesome, as we have come to both expect and rely upon. However, they may have actually been outshined by the Special Teams. Wow, that is the best I can remember our ST playing for an entire game. They were great, and we needed them to be. Huge respect for how they played today. 5 for 5 on FGs, pinning the Steelers deep in their own territory multiple times, etc.

Great game today. We did what we needed to, to win.

As for Duffman and his emotional immaturity and poor attitude towards other Broncos fans, I say, "Hit the bricks, kid." The constant negativity I can (barely) tolerate, but when someone starts telling other people how and what they think, and then adds insults to the mix, they can just go away as far as I'm concerned. Good luck to him in finding some peace. I think he'll need it.

Your point about how well the STs played is a good one. Hope they are up to the task again next week, since they could be the difference in the game.

Congrats, boys.

Can't feel bad about this loss, close game, turned on a critical turnover. Team went farther, and performed better than you would expect considering all the injuries and losses. Good job.

Beat the Pats!

Hard to say that any one play was the biggest of the game - but that one was among the biggest.

Roby's poking the ball loose was the biggest play of the game. ;)

I've found Steelers fans to be extremely classy following this loss. Thanks, guys. I realize you were down two key players and Ben was allegedly banged up (personally I was skeptical he was hurt all that much and his first pass attempt of the game sort of validated that skepticism) but I haven't heard any excuses out of Steelers fans. A brief glance at Patriots fan site "Pats Pulpit" and it's a little bitch-fest there complaining about the officiating and how many injuries they had in the regular season game with the Broncos. The officiating was bad: it favored the Patriots through the first 3 quarters. Big time. And the Broncos had a QB making his 2nd NFL start, plus lost Sly and Ward early in the game. They were out a couple other players as well.

At any rate, for a winning franchise like the Steelers to be able to take a loss so graciously says a lot. Steelers fans are a lot better than Pats fans.

A few more thoughts:

1) I was impressed with the lack of penalties, especially ones that allow drives to continue.

2) Was it just me, or did anyone else think Miller should have been awarded that TD at the end?

3) Denver trailed from the 2nd quarter through the 3rd quarter. I didn't sense a bit of "panic" from anyone. In the end, this team instead did what was necessary to win this game.

4) I think if we played like this against the Patriots this week, the way they played, we still have a good chance to win. Some think "Oh no! The Patriots are at full strength! The rest of the league is in trouble! But even at full strength they weren't exactly blowing teams out, and they SHOULD have lost to the Chiefs.

One more thing: The O line played well last night. They looked...decent actually.

And Walker, you are right: that was a fumble and should have been a TD for Miller. I'm not sure how they managed to rule him down, but that was a fumble in every definition. No matter now that the game is in the books.

I agree with you. The refs usually seem to allow defenders to drape on Ben a bit more than other QBs before blowing the whistle. If they are going to do that in order to allow him to throw the ball forward, then they should do the same thing when he throws the ball backwards.

Oops, I forgot one thought:

5) I LOVED Manning's fake self-sack for a big completion! (Even if it was kind of a fluke, it still showed me that even Manning is not giving up.)

I love yall long time! My heart can't take these games anymore doe.

How about some love for Kayvon Webster on special teams tonight? :)

Bradley Roby with the play of the game.

The Broncos special teams players were the MVP's of today's game. Good kick coverage and Mcmanus in the wind with fg's that Denver needed due to lack of offensive production around and in the redzone.

Whatever I'm fucking done with all you people anyway you wont see me on this board any longer.

Denver continues to choke in big games and it's never gonna change because people like you just say there's always next year and blow it off.

You all are so willing to eat up anything this team does because you can't admit when this team is outmatched. Denver isn't the best team in the league and they continue to prove it week after week.

Of course according to you people it doesn't matter if we win the SB or not you're just happy to make it along for the ride.

Denver has real problems but as long as they're winning close games everyone ignores them because at least they're making it. That is until they get their asses whopped and everyone acts blindsided by it and wonders how it could happen.

Someone needs to settle down here and not judge everyone as one. I for one think it's a failure if Denver doesn't win the Super Bowl. Division titles and saying next year will be better isn't my style but as for other fans maybe there happy with just a season with no Lombardi trophy and I guess that's up to them. Was Denver impressive versus the Steelers? Of course not but they won the game and that's all that matters right now at this time of year. If they play like this against the Patriots I do believe they will lose but they didn't play the Patriots and never know maybe they will play much better next game. I for one am not going to say the Patriots are going to win for sure. The game is at Denver. They have a solid defense that at times can create pressure but agreed some of these blown coverages and the secondary since the Steelers regular season game is concerning but they have shown they can handle there own. The o line played solid versus the Steelers and hopefully they keep it up. As for the drops it's getting old as well but that can be fixed hopefully for the Patriots game. Denver is capable of beating the Patriots and yes they will need to play better but I'll wait until the game is over until I judge there play. Duffman I agree it's frustrating to watch this team at times but let's first see how it all plays out. Peace.

I know I sound a little biased here knowing them, but I felt like the real X factor that kept us in the game and eventually allowed our offense to make a play to win the game was our special teams. Omar Bolden's return early in the game, Kayvon Webster's terror on punt coverage putting the Steelers in bad field position.
2n
And how about some love for Colquitt? We have ragged on him all season but he had a nice game today pin pointing his punts and allowing Webster to make the huge plays he made.

Play of the game Bradley Roby stripping Toussaint. Ware recovering. Roby's 2nd huge play of the season where he was involved in a fumble. (Chiefs game)

The offensive play of the game after two kep drops was Bennie Fowler.

Derek Wolfe had a great game too, and Antonio Smith came up with a big sack after being pretty quiet the last half of the season.

Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett were real quiet.

I thought Chris Harris played his 2nd worst game of the season. I think maybe he is a Steelers lifelong fan. ;)

He will play better next week.

Talib played well.

D. Ware had a great game - so did Miller.

Roby's early pursuit was taken advantage of by BigBen on at least two plays, but I like how he continued to play.

Best Oline pass protection - all season.

Agree on Colquitt - his best game of the season and great job as the holder on the FGs.

Manning deserved to win this game - love how he tossed the game ball to D. Thomas to give to his Mom.

I'd have to say Chris Harris is playing hurt -just not as crisp as he has been for the last couple of seasons.

Like in boxing when a boxer punches the midsection - the Broncos ground game - eventually wears down the opponents at the end of the game - this has happened over 6 times this season - I'm thinking it is on purpose.

I'm beginning to really like the combo of Hillman and CJ - if they would only hook up with Manning in the passing game.

Latimer has earned a few more looks from Manning - considering he doesn't have the dropsies.

Yes, I'm sure the opinion of posters on here is a big reason why the Broncos haven't won the Super Bowl since 98. Plenty of us can admit when we're outmatched, but I'm not about to bitch and moan about winning a playoff game. Win by 1, win by 100, doesn't matter just find a way to get the job done.

I don't think anyone here thinks Denver doesn't have problems, but there's not a flawed team in the NFL, and as long as they keep winning who cares if they aren't perfect.

But if you're going to hold true to your first sentence, I say good riddance.
