He wasn't in press man so you cannot reroute him after 5 yards. He was almost 12 yards off as he should have been to start the play. He mentioned after the game he "guessed" the wrong route. You are fired BSJ. The "1" thing you don't want to do is let the WR get behind you in that situation regardless of what the call is or where the safety is. It was 3rd & long, time running down and they needed to score. When his cushion became 5 yards or less, open your hips and run but don't give up outside leverage, stand flat footed or "guess" a route because you have help inside from your safety on that side. Everything BSJ did in that moment was wrong and not only should he sit, but his secondary coach should also be questioned as to why that play was defended in such a manner. I'm sure DQ is all over it this week.
Competitive game, tough loss on to the next one.
Good points and there's also something else that today's players seemingly aren't taught... the receiver isn't important because you're playing the ball. The entire job is making sure that they don't catch it and they can't do that if you're deflecting it or catching it yourself.
Look around the league and you'll see that almost all of them are playing the man, not the ball.

I played CB so I understand how it works. For the most part I agree.

I am not supporting St. Juste. It was terrible technique. As you said he just let the guy run past him without trying to reroute him or impede him, he just turned and ran but was already a step or two behind.

My post was in relation to what type of leverage he should have played. You have to give credit to Wilson too, it was a hell of a throw. Non defender is going to win on every play but IMO he did not play that one well. I mentioned that Pittsburgh picked on both St. Juste and Chinn.

The fix is getting Lattimore back on the field ..... SOON!!

that is a fair point too, Wilson made an unbelievable throw. both guys are fits for his rocket throws.
at lest ekler killed it for you in fantasy!!!

What do you not agree with?
I don't believe I disagreed with you. My point was he should not have been allowed to have the sideline. Depending on the coverage call (we don't know what it was) using the sideline to help you is the right move. The problem as you stated was he gave him a lot of cushion and was late turning to run. I believe BSJ said "he guessed wrong."

The issue with BSJ is he isn’t physical at the LOS and he knows he doesn’t have great speed . So he plays way off for fear of being beaten deep .

He makes the same mistakes In technique which I don’t think he will ever overcome

To be fair, the previous regime closed their eyes and picked his name out of a hat.
Now that we are playing well, his poor decision making and lack of ball skills in on full display. It appears that he only has 1 interception in his collegiate and professional career combined. From what he said about guessing routes, all defensive backs do it...but there are also times where you are willing to give up something short, you welcome it. This guy is constantly just running with players, thats it. He's attempting to deflect passes after they've already been caught. He is bad at everything. Forbes on the other is a liability in the run game but has made the play when its there
