Keep posting. It's fun watching you dig that hole. 0-2 against Seattle. Couldn't score one offensive TD. Could only muster one drive of 50 yards or longer, and 19 of those yards came on a penalty. Want to talk about Minny winning their division, too? Seattle went three for four against the NFC Norris. Minnesota needed OT to even win one against the NFC West. Meanwhile Seattle had the higher rated offense and defense.

But tell me more about the "indisputable facts" that make this a toss up.

That really your best argument? SEA performance against the NFC North? Many consider them 2-2, but at best, 3-1 with one giant asterisk. MN was 5-1.

A debate of what? Who the luckiest team is? How do we define it? Were the Patriots lucky 3 years ago when Ravens missed a chip shot field goal in the AFCC? Or the Giants that same year?

Blair Walsh missed a field goal. It happens. He made 3 others. The Vikings scored all of 0 TDs today. Seems to me that the Vikings should have done more and not relied on a kicker making a field goal in a high pressure situation in sub-zero weather.

Arguing squishy terms like "lucky" is pointless.
Fair enough, enjoy your evening. I don't think this post was designed to debate scientific proof?

Minn played better and had the better season. Does seattle have more talent yes.
Which team had or played better the second half of the season and do you think that matters?

No one cares about half the season. Seattle didn't play to their potential this year. They can still save their season. Beating Carolina will be tough. Seattle should of loss today but the god were with them again. Wilson forgot to show up today, The D played great like normal.

Fair enough & good point.
But, If you take that same play 10 x's how many times does he make that catch? Some might say that's luck?
I'm a Kearse fan. Look back at my posts over the past two years. When Hawk fans were down on him I said I'd love to have him on the Pats. He makes all kinds of toe tapping/diving catches.
Yeah, there's no denying that the crazy tipped aspect of that whole play made it a very improbable catch. Who knows-- maybe ninety-something times out of a hundred that ball falls incomplete. The only reason that I added the non-luck element is that I've always felt that Kearse deserved props for his part of it.

You have a DB decide to jump a quick slant route. How many times does he come up with the ball? 2 in 10? 1 in 10?

Was that play 'lucky?' Maybe. He guessed and he guessed right. If he'd have guessed wrong, Wilson could've crawled into the endzone.

So what? He STILL had to make the play, even after guessing right.

He made a GREAT, GREAT play. Lucky? Who cares?

Good/great teams make their own luck.

In all seriousness name a team that has had more bounces go their way? I honestly can't think of one. Willing to discuss honest opinions.
First I don't think Seattle fans can use the dumb call to lose the SB last year as an argument. That was their teams call. IMHO calling a pass play was genious. The problem was they called the slant. Had they called a RW roll out I think we're having a different discussion.
How about the fail Mary call or the Bostic bonehead play trying to catch the onside kick last year?
The Kearse juggling catch to set up the potential worst call ever.
The so called missed field goal by the Pats right after the "real" refscame back.
The Vikes missed FG today.
The RW scramble play and throw to Lockett. RW makes a great athletic play that 90% or > of the QBs in the league can't make. But come on it's another broken play. To get anything from a broken play in the NFL is lucky.
Serious debates only.
I realize there are more but these just stand out. I also realize the Hawks have been screwed on occassion see SB refs in 06. But we're not talking the bad/unlucky breaks or bad penalty calls/no calls. That would cause the internet to implode if every team discussed those:nod:

What qualifies as "luck"? Several of these instances are just the other team choking and not playing well. Others are bad calls by the ref. If that's what "luck" is, then how are the New England Patriots not being mentioned as the "luckiest" team?

Tuck Rule - Patriots got "lucky" that Brady doesn't get hit a fraction of a second later when the refs surely would have recognized that he had finished the throwing motion and it gets ruled a fumble.

Super Bowl 38 - Patriots get lucky when John Kasay misses the entire field on a kickoff, giving the Pats a short field.

Super Bowl 39 - Patriots get lucky and face an Eagles team with an injured TO.

19-1 Season- In the regular season the Ravens stop the Pats on fourth down to end the game, but Harbaugh calls a timeout which gives them another chance. Leads to undefeated regular season.

2011 Season- Billy Cundiff misses chip shot to give the Pats the win in the AFC championship game.

Super Bowl 49- Patriots luck out when Jeremy Lane breaks his arm and Julian Edelman proceeds to abuse his back up after not being forced to undergo any treatment for a clear concussion.

That was easy, and that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure you could do the same for every team that has been very good over the span of a given number of years. When you're competitive in every single game you tend to have more opportunities for things to go your way.

I'll guarantee you one thing, there aren't any Minnesota fans sitting around complaining that Seattle got "lucky". They're pissed that their kicker missed an easy chip shot as they should be.

Minn had the better record better conference record and won their division and should of had this game but crap happens. Best team doesn't always win. Thats why they play the games. Now going into this season yes Seattle was suppose to be better this year. Seattle has more talent. I can't argue that. I won't. That would be stupid. Seattle just had a little trouble this year.

Ah, well you've more or less stated what I was trying to say and in fewer words. I went into overkill mode as usual.

If Seattle becomes the luckiest team in NFL history, I am good with it. This would have to mean the team reels of a string of back to back Lombardi's.
I agree. Like I've said in the past. Call my QB (this could mean any QB not necessarily Brady) a system QB. Or say all he can do is dink and dunk or can only do whatever. As long as you're calling him a winner or his team I'm good with that.

Well the PI on Cam was lucky for the Vikes to get into FG range. How can you call it luck, when the Vike's kicker choked big time?

Agreed. Haven't figured out why it's lucky for one team when the other team chokes. It wasn't luck, Walsh just didn't execute the kick. No ones calling it luck that Minnesota got the ball at the 29 because poor execution on a punt caused a short run by the punter. Seattle didn't execute and gave Minnesota the opportunity to take the lead. Minnesota didn't execute at the end and it cost them the game.

In this season Minn won their division and played better overall. I agree Seattle was suppose to be the better team. They have more talent. Minn played better today just had some dumb luck go against them. it happens. No I don't think Wash was better, they played in the East. I had Seattle winning this game just because of experience. Minn had it but Laces out happen and a dumb bad snap throw up in happen and a fumble by the best RB in the league.
Yeah Peterson is the best RB in the NFL, "except" the last two times he played the Hawks.

Typical response. I ask for a debate and this is what you give. One I never said it was the Patriots playing good football or anytime a team playing the Hawks it's a screw up.
I clearly identified plays that I considered to be lucky. Do you disagree "these" plays were not lucky? Is so debate.
Seattle has been the most competitive team in the league the last 4 years straight. I say that because they have been in every game in that time span never losing by more than 10 points. That means there were some games that the Seahawks were behind a lot and some late game heroics enabled some miraculous wins.
If your team is in every game, there are more opportunities to stand out. You think it is luck. I say it is creating more opportunities.

See when you backpedal a bit, you're actually a quite reasonable poster.

Agreed great teams do make their own luck.
Was the Butler play lucky? It's debatable. They practiced it, he made the play. However, like I said many times the correct call would've been Wilson rolling out. Which you are likely correct Wilson strolls into the EZ.

Well my point is that most of the number of times out of 10, the result isn't an interception. So it's incomplete, or it's complete and Butler makes the catch for no gain or a short loss, whatever.

Is it fair to say that a pick in that situation is 'unlikely?'

LOTS of Seahawks fans excoriated Bevell because in their opinion, a slant isn't Wilson's strongest pass.

My point was it was a freaking short slant. If he's truly a budding elite QB, you can't be scared of asking him to throw a fvcking slant.

Your coach wasn't letting Lynch beat us in that situation.

In the end though, it doesn't matter if it was lucky or not. You won, and the hole narrative about Brady's legacy went from Great with some question marks, to just being Great again.

Another ring.

Luck? So what?

IDK about NFL history but they do get some luck on their side like the fail mary, Packers failed onside kick recovery, missed chip shot FG.
