Chicken Soup Bowl. Wrong team won, but it was a landmark game in the career of a QB who many consider the GOAT.

Here's a list of a few (some may be repeats apologies, I haven't read the whole thread). These are from my old NCAA games college classics mode.

December 19th 1980 SMU-BYU Holiday Bowl- Known as the "Miracle Bowl". Monster Comeback from BYU. Down 45-25 with 4 minutes left. BYU had a huge comeback to win the game 46-45 on a last second hail mary.

November 20th 1982 Cal-Stan The Play- The miracle kick return where the band runs on the field. We all know this one don't we?

November 23rd 1983 BYU-Mizzu Holiday Bowl- BYU down late calls a run play, running back throws it back to Steve Young who runs for the winning td to give BYU a 21-17 win. Young scored a rare combo of running receiving and passing tds.

January 1st 1984 Miami-Nebraska Orange Bowl- The game that started a dynasty. A classic back and fourth that came down to nebraska scoring late to tie it. Tom Osborne decides to go for the win with a 2-pointer. It fails and canes win their first national title.

November 23rd 1984 Boston College-Miami The Hail Flutie- Doug Flutie gives Boston College a huge win over their rival with a last second monster Hail Mary. Flutie goes on to win Heisman.

November 30th 1985 Auburn-Alabama Iron Bowl- Known as "the kick", this was one of the greatest iron bowls ever. Great back and fourth game. Tigers held a 23-22 lead late. Alabama needs a 52 yarder to win, the kicker makes the field goal as time expires to win it. Bammers go wild :P.

January 2nd 1987 Miami-Penn State Fiesta Bowl- The unofficial first "national title game" pitted number 1 Miami and number 2 Penn state. Miami shows up to the game in military fatigues, brash and confident, Penn state buttoned up and disciplined. Game was actually moved to prime time on jan 2nd to give it stand alone time. Penn State upsets Miami, picking off Vinny Testaverde to win the title! This game began the scramble for an annual 1 vs 2 matchup. (also, halftime show featured an interview with Ronald Reagan).

Will be continued.

The last one on your list is my all-time favorite. Exemplifies my notion of "poetic justice".

More games!

January 1st 1991 Colorado-Notre Dame Orange Bowl- Another, so called, national title game (although Colorado was ranked 1st Notre Dame 5th lol). Up 10-9 late, Colorado is forced to punt to Rocket Ishmail. He returns the punt for a td to give Irish a 15-10 lead with 43 seconds left. However, the td is called back on a highly controversial clipping call. Colorado holds on for the win, and a share of the national title.

November 16th 1991 Miami-Florida State Wide Right I- The game that started the trend that became a hallmark of this rivalry. In this titanic 1 vs 2 rivalry game, Florida State is down 17-16 late and driving. FSU needs a last second 34 yarder to win it. The kicker ends up missing and Miami holds for the win.

November 14th 1992 Penn State-Notre Dame The Snow Bowl- Battle between 2 titan independent schools. The weather played a huge part as there was a snow storm mid game, making the field very icy and slippery. Down 16-9 late, Notre Dame scores a td to make it 16-15. With no overtime in this era, Notre Dame decides to go for 2 and the win. They convert to score a huge 17-16 win.

November 13th 1993 Florida State-Notre Dame Game of the century- Billed the "game of the century" this match up featured number 1 FSU vs number 2 ND. FSU was down 31-24 late. Charlie Ward lead FSU's offense down the ND 14 yard line with 3 seconds left. However, his roll out pass is batted away and the Irish win a classic!

September 24th 1994 Colorado-Michigan The miracle at Michigan- Another one you've prob all heard of. In a battle between top 10 teams, Colorado is down 26-21 with six second left and the ball at their own 36. Kordell Stewart heaves up an absolute MONSTER hail mary and Colorado, miraculously, catches it for a crazy 27-26 win.

To be continued.

I actually just thought of the 5th down games, probably as you were typing it up and posted it.

That game won't register with anybody except for ND/Michigan fans.

You're probably right, but I never get tired of watching the last 1:21 of that game.

I'm definitely right. This game just doesn't stack up to other noteworthy games in CFB history. Hell I can think of 10 games off the top of my head that have more significance to college football history that Michigan has been involved in before this game.

Maybe if either of these teams were ranked it would be different.

Sept. 1 2007. Appalachian State upset Michigan.

Not the biggest upset ever, but definitely the first time college football had seen anything like that

December 6th, 1969: #1 Texas 15 vs. #2 Arkansas 14 - "Game of the Century"

This game got a 52.1 TV rating. To put that in perspective, this past year's super bowl got a 49.7. This is one of the most iconic games in CFB history.

Might not work since January 1 is a big day in college football but...
January 1st, 1942 the Rose Bowl was played outside of pasedena for the first and only time. It was played in Durham, nc and was won by Oregon St.

I need a fact check, not sure about it being the only time but I'm pretty sure. The game was relocated because Pearl Harbor

Great game/moment. I wouldn't have thought of it though. It is a Jan 1 game, so I'll have to think about what I will do. So many great moments on that day.
